1-month-old Nosy Be Panther Chameleon...

Welcome to the forums. You've took on a very hard task to raise a panther baby so young. My daughter has raised panthers and never let one go to a new home to 3 or 4 months old. I recently raised a clutch of veileds and put together some info for the new keepers and thought this link would be helpful for you. It tells you everything you need, how to use it and shows a link with a picture and where you can buy it from.

couple of things i noticed real quick..You have him near a window? He might be getting too hot when and if the sun shines through it. I also didn't see a dripper listed..Misting alone will not be enough, you need a dripper..And the crickets shouldn't be the size of his head, but the size of the distance between his eyes..Also, you should be using a reg light bulb, nt a red one..Do you shut the red light out at night? And i'm sorry, but 1 mos. old is waaaaay to young to be selling these guys..

What strength is your UVB?

I think you should go with pin heads for feeding them, my guy is 2 months and thats what im feedin, it was recommended from who i bought it from. Also try to get some fruit flies, my guy loves them and just eats as many as he can. im trying to start hand feeding my little dude but hes still scared of me :p but definetly down size on the crickets just to be safe

So it was the size of the crickets... i put some fruit flies and hes just pickin them off. Thanks you so much everyone.

Glad he is eating. You stil want to get some pinheads or 1/8" crix to vary his diet. Fruit flies are good for awhile but tiny crickets are much better for him since you can gutload them. Constant feeding of fruit flies alone will cause slight dehydration i have found. I put a slice of apple or yellow squash in with the baby crickets and it helps provide fluids along with regular misting. Good luck!

Hey there,

just saw your setup and do you use a coil uvb??? cuz i believe they can cause eye problems and may blind him, and to be safe , try as soon as you can get a "linear tube" uvb light from zoomed reptisun 5.0... goodluck:D

Aced0234, you never answered our question on the lighting! Lighting is a critical part of your husbandry and could mean the difference between a healthy chameleon or a sickly one.

Oh i thought i did. Well i have a 60w red bulb, and a 5.0 UVB light. but I guess the coiled one isnt good for the cham. so i gotta change that.
