10 Gallon ok for Crested Gecko

I have a 1.5 year old male crested gecko is he ok in his 10 gallon cage?

Upgrade the poor guy to a 20 gallon. I keep all of my adults in a 20 gallon or larger.

20 gallons to start, plus 10 gallon for each gecko thereafter. I do not suggest housing geckos communally unless you plan on checking weights weekly. Never house males together.

Ok got it that is no problem. What is your opinion of baby food in the crested geckos diet?

No baby food. It lowers bone density and can cause MBD as well as other issues. Stick to CGD with insects no more than once or twice a week.

Oh ok how should I go about getting him back to his cgd diet? I heard that it is hard to get them to transition them back.

Why did you put him on baby food in the first place? It can be hard but you need to do it for the well being of your gecko..

Just put the CGD back and see if he eats it.. if not I really don't have any suggestions. I've never had that problem

Untill today I really never knew the effects of baby food

But I do have a bottle of CDG on hand will start him on that asap. Oh also what substrate you use for your crested geckos I use coconut husk which I have had no problems with but I have noticed somtimes when hunting for crickets he gets some husk in there as well.

What size Exo Terra Glass Cage would he need

My reptile store is having a sale on them and I am wondering if I should get one instead of a 20 gallon cage

They are more expensive. Get an 18x18x24, you won't regret it.

Any difference in care than a fish tank glass?

Are you able to put a heat pad under if need be?

It has a glass bottom.

How cold does it get?

It is usually low 70's

But we run the ac in the house alot

Low 70s doesn't need a heat pad. Fill out the help form for your cresties, perhaps I can help with a little more. Sounds like you need a cage intervention.

Get rid of the coco husk and use paper towels, why is your cage cooler than your house? Why are you supplementing with more vitamins? If you only feed crickets twice a week, you should only supplement twice a week.

I was giving him more calcium becasue he was eating babyfood and I saw that it didnt contain that much calcium and D3. How often with paper towels will I have to spray? I have the cage on my dresser which is high up and is kind of close to the air vent. I have mt leopard gecko on the right with supplies in the middle

D'oh I had forgotten about that, silly me. I assume people feed CGD and sometimes just forget.

You'll have to spray a little more often, but let it dry sometimes unless you want mold and other issues.

How Often should I change the paper towel's?

And what other feeders do they like? Mine used to eat silkworms but dosent any more so I just feed crickets.

Spot clean daily and do a full clean once a week.
