2 year old child and a chameleon

My 2 nephew is coming to stay with me for a week soon. I'm working on 'babyproofing' Gizmo's cage to minimize the stress this will have on Giz. So far I've created a foam privacy fence on the bottom 1/3 of his cage, and I'm considering erecting some sort of fence so he has to stay back a few feet. The nephew is OBSESSED with my "gizard lizard" as he calls him.

Anyone with little kids have any suggestions? I can't keep him out of the room Gizmo is in because my house is open concept. I am just worried about stressing gizmo out too much. Perhaps I'm overthinking this whole thing

I think you'll be fine. My little cousins come over all the time and have been since I first got Tony. They are two and four and both are also equally obsessed but they understand to look and not touch unless I give the okay. They mostly just point and watch (they like to see him eat). If Gizmo is used to people/being handled he should be fine as long as your nephew doesn't get aggressive or anything.

Is the cage on a table? If it is I would say you fine. As long as he can be a few feet above the little guys head and has places to hide I would not worry about him him getting very stressed.

Yes its on a table thats about 2.5 ft high. I think we will all survive this long week. Thanks for the input!

Chameleon defense system:

- Purchase a commonly sold "scat mat" used to keep cats out of cribs or some rooms.

- Place where child will make its approach to get to the chameleon.

- Plug in / set up a go pro camera.

/ popcorn
