50 Shades of Blurple

This is my very special Bonsai offspring. Sometimes he's blue, sometimes he's purple usually he's an in-between, violet shade. He's 8 months old.

Some people think he's photoshopped (he's not), some think he's mixed (he's not, I bred the parents myself and have very thorough lineage), and someone suggested he may have a hormone imbalance that is causing the unusual coloration (I hope that's not the case).

Here are photos from all different times of the day, in many different types of lighting. Comments/criticism are welcome, as I like to hear what people really think.

all I can say is WOW ! and I hope he passes this to any babies  was he the only one in the clutch to end up this way ? very cool guy!

Every time I see this guy I'm all "Ugh! I want his babies!!!!"
Husband: ...what????
"Chameleon dear!!! Don't worry!"

He's a stunner. You are so lucky. :p

I've heard about this little one on Facebook.

I have heard rumors that many in his clutch who were similarly colored had issues, but I don't know if that's true.

All I know is that I wish you good luck creating a new color in the cham business, and that he is gorgeous!

Hopefully later on you can perfect this.

-- full purple body color would be awesome. just saying ;)

Good luck

He is a gorgeous cham, maybe the most interesting panther i have ever seen.:)
He is even a little popular in Turkey after his "purple video", most of us (us = turkish reptile keepers) thought it was fake, photoshop or something. :D
I could kill to have one of his babies but its probably impossible.

I almost want to say "Axanthic" - but then I see the yellows in his jaw and lateral line, and think ... nope, that's just a freakin' awesome purple chameleon.

Lol, I hadn't heard that one! There were no others in the clutch with the same coloration. His siblings are blue, but not like he is. And of all the ones I sold, I have not heard that any of them have had any health issues at all....not a single one. This was a very strong, healthy clutch. In total, I kept five of them, 2 males and 3 females, and they are all doing very well.

I wouldn't know how to edit the coloration in a video even if I wanted to. It was taken from an iphone, and uploaded directly :)

Shauna, I think by now you know you have something very special here! Everyone talks about thinking their chameleons are purple and they are really not. This guy is PURPLE. No doubt about it! You must be so glad you kept him. Now, what about the others that you sold, have you seen any pictures of them?? I wish I would have taken you up on getting one of Bonsai's babies when they were available. How many did you sell and how many did you keep? I could really kick myself!

I need to check my records, but I know I sold at least 7 males. There are a few that I don't get updates on because they don't participate in the forums/FB (that I know of), but the other guys are all showing blues. I kept 2 males and 3 females. My other male is showing purple barring, but he's nothing like this guy. Here is the brother

Yep that would be purple too!! Not quite as impressive as your other guy, but so very beautiful also! It is going to be interesting to see how they turn out!! Like I said, wish I would have gotten one of the males when you told me about them!!!
