Hey guys, here are two of the babies that we kept from our last clutch, look how big they have gotten, one is definetely a boy as he already has the large fin on the tail and his horns have begun to come in, we think the other is pretty much a girl. These are siblings of little Jet (Laurie), Lue's two little quads and some others out there. Enjoy!!

Josh couldn't you have talked to them to hatch prior to me flying home yesterday??? You know I would have been back to your house in a flash. I will expect pictures as soon as the hatch, PLEASE!!!

Can't tell you how much I enjoyed meeting you & Michelle and playing with your chams (that is to see how many people read this :) ). It was great to spend a little time getting to know the two of you. You both are really nice people, and so much fun to go to dinner with. Hope we get to do it again.

You shouldn't have to wait long (fingers crossed), we have about 18 eggs that are due to hatch any day. The eggs have been shrinking and such for about 6 days, I am not sure if this happened last time as we lost that clutch due to the heat wave, however does anyone else have any experience with how long eggs should start shrinking / deflating before they start to hatch?

How did I miss this thread? I must be busy...

They're looking great and look at those horns! Our male hasn't developed much in the way of horns but he is starting to get some nice color. In regards to the eggs, well, sweating is usually a good sign that things are happening and more will be happening soon, but swelling can occur up to a few months prior to to hatching. Maybe others who have hatched qaudricornis can speak more specifically about their tendencies, though it doesn't seem that they're much different than most other montane species so congratulations! It sounds like you'll have some babies soon!

Now I have to take a few updated shots of ours!

Luis could you take some colse ups of his horns and sailfin? Jet doesn't have near what Josh & Michelle's boy has as far as his development. I am worring the Jet could be a female.:eek: (shades of Tiff and Amy) You can hopefully resolve my problem.:) That would be while I still have some hair left.

Laurie,

Don't worry, mine isn't as developed either. I would say just a few weeks shy of that, though the strangest thing did happen this evening. I noticed that our male has gone blind. Very troublesome as this is now two of our chameleons that have suddenly become blind within the past three days.

I've spent the later part of the day going over all of notes and examining fecal samples to no avail. It is the strangest thing I've come across yet.

At any rate, if he's up for it, I'll get a pic but I won't bother him otherwise.

Wow Luis I am so sorry. I had a friend who had a cham go blind and the vet decided it was from strong fumes. That is the weirdest thing I had ever heard. I hope both of your are ok.

We're a bit torn up over it but we'll be fine. I was simply unequipped to handle a two blind chameleons in one week. Adjustments are underway as we speak.

Anyway, back to topic at hand...check out them quads! ;)

Lue - are you saying that the little male quad went blind? Do you have any idea what could have caused that since you had another go blind in the same week? Do you think that they are related? How sad to hear, I hope that your other chams are ok.

By the way - we lost the eggs that were due to hatch now, not sure exactly what happened as they had developed for the last 5 months, it may have had something to do with that heat wave that came through right after they were born when it killed the last clutch. - fingers crossed for the ones that we have from the other female.. they are still growing and look good..
