I sadly had to euthanize my old man George. He's been through a lot in his time with MBD when he was a baby, getting trucked 3 hours in the car to a better home with me and then a few years later 22 hours in the car to move from Texas to Colorado, injuring his tongue so it only shot crooked, and several surgeries to remove papilloma warts. Then recently his back legs stopped working and bloodwork showed early kidney failure. When he died he also had a twist in his gut preventing him from pooping and a lung full of fluid. Here's more of his story here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/george-hospice-123478/. To be completely honest, George was a bit of a jerk! He hated people and would hiss and lunge if you opened his cage. No amount of coaxing and hand feeding and rewarding would convince him you weren't some type of evil spawn out to get him. But that's okay. He was actually my first chameleon and without him I wouldn't have found my fascination with chams and have the other wonderful chams I have today or be part of this forum. So I can't be mad at him despite all his grumbling. And his papillomas have triggered a collaborative effort to publish research on this condition in chameleons, which we need. So George has made a good contribution to the world. Still, his cage looks so empty...
This is the face I usually got from George - the classic "You are beneath me and don't come near me" grumpy look.
He was always so handsome when he was pissed off.
