A very invasive picture ...

One thing that is fascinating to me is the way chameleons seem to establish dedicated areas in their territories.
Sleeping spot, basking spot, and ... bathroom.
This photo shows the dripper collection container in the bottom of Kitty's enclosure. Long ago he made this his toilet, and every time he "goes" it is just like this.
Down to the toilet, perched over the edge, the deposit goes into the "toilet" ... and he heads back up.
Thought you all might like to see a picture.

Is that why you dont put screen over the top of your water catch?
I guess that makes cleaning easy.
How long has the toilet using been going on?

I have screen over Agnes' collection container. With Kitty's habits the screen got too hard to keep clean, plus he really wanted to perch like the picture when he went ... so I took his off.
Cleaning is very easy:)
He's always done it. He's been in this enclosure since September.

I've noticed with my veiled he has certain don't mess with me spots in his cage. When he's at the highest point of the cage he adamantly refuses to be handled so I leave him alone. However, when he's in the lower parts of the tree he will actually crawl onto my hand to be handled for a bit. I can tell when he's not in the mood because he will begin to crawl upwards to his perch where he feels he can make a stand having the high ground. He's probably protecting his basking spot, being that he's the head hancho and all.:p

I always assumed "Kitty" was a girl lol! True to his name though, it's almost like he's using a litter box!

That pic is awesome. I had a veiled female who used to do that. Now I have a Nosy Be girl who Sh*%s in the little cup that I have to catch the dripping water from one of my mist heads. It's kinda funny how they do it in the same spot every time.

Today it got better!
Agnes just went down to the bottom of her enclosure ...
I thought maybe she was starting to scout out a place to lay her eggs ...
Oh no, instead she went to her collection container, perched on the side and pooped right onto the mesh.
Just like Kitty!
I have such well mannered chameleons.:)
I'll try to get a picture next time ... there is NO privacy in this house!

This is cool Brad. I always thought it was pretty facinating how they have designated spots also. My male panther likes to poop in his water catching container. I havent seen him do it but I have 1by1 pvc mesh over the container and most of the time the turds go right thru. This does help with the cleaning greatly.
