Adopted Veiled - first timer

most people do pans, but if you do that do a wire base or something so your cam can't get into it and make sure it can support whatever pots you put in etc. But I also have done solid bottoms with multiple holes and then an easy to remove pan or wide kind of rubbermaid bin.

I just caught him drinking a little from the mister. He seems to have some stuck shed on his little dorsal spikes, should I help him get it off or leave it alone? The new cage is still trucking along slowly but surely. I wish I had more time to work on it and get it done. Pretty much just need to build the stand now.

If you can soften the stuck shed then rolling it off should be easy. Sometimes showers are the best treatment for stubborn sheds. He has gained a beautiful amount of weight. I just recently got a little guy with similar issues and he seems to be on the right track as well.

Cool, maybe I'll put him in the shower sometime and see if some of it will come off when I take him out. I'm glad you think he looks like he's gained weight. It's still hard for me to tell. He always looks best when he's sleeping. I don't think he likes his current enclosure since it's lacking much greenery. Hopefully he will like the new plants waiting for the new cage.

Him tonight

He's filled out a smidge around his ribs, some at his hips and the base of his tail and definitely some in the face.

Good to hear, thanks. How important are crickets in the diet, or can I replace them with different worms only? He hasn't been catching crickets lately and has been eating super worms. I think it might just be because of the flooding in the cage, but now I'm not sure if he'll be able to catch them in the new cage since it is so big.

You can replace crickets with roaches etc. but most worms don't make a good staple diet. so they need be augmented.

Oh yeah, I know someone with a bunch of Dubai roaches, I need to get with him about it. Guessing the cham will eat them since it likes eating worms from a bowl.

Check out his pudge tonight :p

I would love a picture of him when he's done shedding, it almost looks like he is ready to go to every other day feeding. Gotta love being a healthy weight again <3
