My husband is freaking me out because he put our new chameleon in an all glass aquarium. It's only ventilation is the top that has mesh top on it. Am I overreacting? I feel like it needs to be in a more ventilated atrium.

Plenty of chams live in that kind of setup. The key is to dry out the cage between mistings. You might want a hot side and and a wet side.

How big is it? Is it just temporary? How old/big is your new chameleon?

This is were you tell me I am overreacting and save a 17 year marriage. Lol. I do appreciate any and all advice as this is our first chameleon.

Its a bit small, but it is a jacksons, which is a bit small. Plus jacksons like it a bit more humid and tropical. 18x18 would work for a female jacksons, but if you get a large male (10") it might get a bit tight if he doesnt get to free range alot.

Now im with you that is is completely in appropriate for a male veiled.

Haku is a male.

Haku is a male.

Well let me put it to you this way.
the reptibreeze XL is the bench mark cage on the site. 24x24x48. It is wonderful for panther/veiled that grow to a bit over a foot long. Haku is going to grow to a bit under a foot long.

So again, there is good odds the cage is going to be 2x longer than the cham, and most veiled/panthers do just fine in cages that are a bit under 2x animal length.

@Drgnfl1 The problem with that set up is it is too narrow. There is zero airflow. There are things you can do like install a computer fan but I wouldn't use a sealed 18" x 18" X 30" tall glass enclosure. I use glass and mine are all vented at the bottom front. Even then, I often leave the doors open a crack.

I am going to try to replace the front glass with mesh. Thank you for your advice.

AQUARIUMS ARE NOT EQUAL TO TERRARIUMS. you are right it´s is too unventilated, specially for trioceros. get a terrarium if you want a glass set upp. full top vent and front too. ala exoterra.

Over 25 years ago when I first started keeping chameleons all that was available was aquariums with screen lids. I kept lots of chameleons in them successfully but shape of the aquarium and especially the way you set it up and run it matter.

You could compromise and build a raised screen extension. Keep the aquarium as the bottom and build up to increase his area and ventilation.
