Alternatives to Crickets?

Apparently it's too hot to ship silkworms to Arizona? Today's high is 89 degrees, seems fine to me.

I got a refund from Lady Silkworm, going to order from someone else, suggestions?

you can try coastal silkworms. I live in Florida and they are in Florida and California. They just shipped me some from Florida to Florida where it is super hot! They all arrived live here. Ask for overnight shipping. It is gonna cost ya though.

I have not had a problem with any of my silkworms dying but I do leave the top off of the cup to circulate air and I have flipped them in the container as suggested by Ladysilkworm. My silkworms were over loaded in the cup also and they were tiny but since I have gotten them within the last couple of days they have doubled in size and Ozzie loves his silkworms no matter what size LOL!

I also have the same problem though when I dust them Ozzie won't eat them but when I don't dust them he gobbles them right up:confused:

Thanks Ozzie!

yeah, I am sorry to cancel. The next few days at Phoenix is 99 -100... it is just way TOO HOT to ship silkworms, maybe other feeders take the heat well.

People tend to buy from local places .. and believe me, it is at least one day less on the road when you buy local.

I will be using fedex ground soon, and for those that live within 100 or so miles of me, you will get your order within one day for like $2 or $3 more!

There are certainly states that makes me nervous, and that would be FL, AZ, and places that are remote from the HUB.. .. I've been burned terrily before. USPS tend to make a lot of transfer and sometimes is NOT very efficient at it. One of my shipment went to a remote place.. just 100 miles from sacramento airport, but it took ONE FULL day on the road there.. most of the silkies ended up dead.. and then the buyer tells me they had a heat wave...coastal places in CA are actually breezier and cooler. It's the inlands that worries me.

Sorry about your order Josh... with temp like that it would be an automatic live ship void, and I didn't want to get into an issue like that..

No worries! I didn't understand the temperature requirements that silkworms had, and I cannot find them locally. I am going to look into other food sources.

I appreciate your reply.

Mulberry Farms is awesome.

When I got an order, they placed a heat pack because it was like Dec, and the meal/super worms and dubia roaches all arrived with no dead ones. Customer service is pretty good too.
