Ambanja Panther Chameleon Hatching/Hatchling concerns

Is someone taking care of yr baby? I hope so, he needs a lot of care and concern. Im excited for you. If he was not eating at all he wouldnt have energy to wander around. When i got one of my girls she arrived frozen. Back legs stiff. But i put her carefully under a lamp and she opened one eye! Crazy, huh? She is a little wierd, like something isnt quite right in her mind. But i love her little wierd self.

Have the other eggs died? If they are still white I think you may just have an early baby and the rest will follow once they get to term, 7 months is a shorter incubation than mine have been 8-9.5 months typical at 72F.
One egg hatched so far, as per my first post (thread title), three had shrunk and the chameleons inside were stillborn, 1 had pipped its egg right before I left but remained inside, and there are about 20 leftover that are still white and 'plump'. I actually miscalculated the time that has gone by on those eggs, and it has been about 8 months. Any ideas on why this seems like an abnormal hatching?

I will be back on Sunday. Everything for the baby is on a timer and automatic - from the lights to the mister and humidifier. I also put in PLENTY of fruit flies, fruit, and pinhead crickets. He/She had enough food to last a week, even though I'll be back sooner.

The one that pipped will probably be marching around looking for food when you return. It may be variations in incubation temps causing issues and them to hatch over a longer time span but from what I've read that is relatively common with all chameleons and it's not unheard of for clutch mates to hatch months apart. My clutch all pipped and hatched out with 4-5 days with the exception of the one that died a few weeks later.

Ok. This can be your guide all the time, to what you have to do to leave,. I have wanted to go camping but couldnt figure out a water plan. The resevoir for my dripper only holds a gallon of water, my fogger runs out after 24 hours and my chams are big enough to eat all their worms in 36 hrs. Crickets crawl all over my guys, so thats out. Idk, i might have been able to do it when they atr fruit flies, but not now. They use a lot of stuff. Plus there is 5 of them!!

Let us know how he is when you get home, please.
Hi Chachi and everyone else who has helped give advice: When I came home I had another dozen babies crawling around in the container, so I moved them to the existing enclosure. The little guy who came out prematurely was sleeping and looked more full in the belly than when I left. It appears he may make it. I still have some eggs (about 6) unhatched, so I'm going to leave them.
