I bought this as one sex, but beginning to doubt it. Can anyone tell me what they think it is? I will reveal the sex I *bought* it as after a couple of opinions.

talk to the breeder and see if he/she is willing to trade.
Most will; but, some won't, depending on the policy they have.

lol on the bright side, at least you didn't get one of the he-she like I did.

What is this he-she you speak of?

To OP: Sorry to hear about your ole switcharoo. On the bright side, she is quite cute.

We can all make mistakes, but that is clearly a female.
Tell us who the breeder is so we can have a laugh at their expense!
Is that wrong???

I see nothing wrong with that. Seriously IMO, there is no way that anyone that has experience with panthers could make that mistake.

See Ya,

Todd

well....
i say you can guess the sex about 90% of the time..
but, there is a 10% margin of error...

it's not exactly like a veiled chameleon where it is obvious.
Sometimes the bulge is not apparent.. but, not in this case...

We don't even know how long the owner has had her. By those pics there's no doubt in my mind it's female, but I'm not sure I could have known that a month or 2 ago.

Hahahaha. Of course not! I dont know if I have a good eye or just lucky but Ive been 100% correct on sex as far as I know with my first clutches. We all know females can be decieving color wise when younger. I also have to agree with your other post. That pic is hilarious!!!!!

Dodolah, at least you know you dont have to worry about your batman boy. CHUCK G DOESNT PRODUCE WUSSIES!!!! Hahaha. Your guyirll is very interesting though and still looks nice though.

I would suspect the OP has had this girl for sometime. She is clearly on the older side at least not a juvi anymore. This happened to me with my first panther. It was supposed to be a boy but well, it was Mrs. Fireball instead:D which I am actually glad for. The breeder gave me a whopping 25 dollar discount on another purchase. While I have produced some really nice offspring with the pair and I love them both, that was a pretty poor reembursment if you ask me.

Depending on how long you have had her, quality of your breeder there could be many ways the could make the situation right. The ball should be in your field though.

This is my opinion on what could/should be done.

Swap her for a boy (at there expense if it needs to be shipped).

If they have more than one breeder they could give you a discount on another purchase. (if your interested in breeding and if they have a good breeding colony).

Complete refund.

Partial refund and keep the lovely lady.

If your breeder is an honest person they should be happy to do what you want as long as your not asking something outrageous. Also it would probably depend on how long youve had her.

My 2 cents.

This is my new favorite avatar,by the way!

I wish I could remember the video I capped it from. Some random japanese game show on youtube. I spent a whole day trying to refind it once, no avail.

On topic: Why is sexing sometimes harder when younger? Are the spurs not always apparent or is that just on veileds? Sorry, still doing the research thing over here.

Im sure that girl was clearly a lady 2 months ago. I could tell by her face in the first few pics before even seeing the tail base. Im not an expert by any means. Ive only sexed maybe 50 to 60 panthers but after I let the first 10 grow to 3 months and watching them and there little phases it became apparent. Plus the bulge. Even if its not right in your face:rolleyes: its still there when they come out fo the shell. If I can do it Im sure most others can sex accuratly.

We all know though. If you arent positive about the sex. DONT SELL IT!

spur thing is for veiled. not for panther.
