Ampiskiana Panther Locale

I believe there is no place on madagascar with such a name. They are supposedly not a real locale or if they are, the name got mixed up in transistion.

No there are Ampiskiana out there. The only problem is that the town they come from have a different spelling than what we label them as. I have seen maybe 3 in my entire life, but not in person.

there is so much debate surrounding this locale, that I dont even think it's worth bothering with.

You cannot be sure that the town even has the same name if they are even a locale. With so little info about them, they could be anything from anywhere.

you should talk to Chris Carter at Clean Line Chameleons...although i dont think he is ever on much

Imo they look like a cross. Im not saying I know for sure theres no such locale but based solely on pics Ive seen I'd say they look like crosses. The pics Ive seen look like Nosy Mitsios crossed with an Ambilobe. Who is actually working with these guys and where are they getting their stock from?

There is nothing that distinguishes a cross from a pure local. I mean even in the wild there are no barriers (ok sometimes mountains and water) but all we are doing is trusting a name that either an importer or an export throws on these guys. We don't really know where they are collected from...its a name...nothing more. I mean I haven't seen Andapa in person, I haven't seen Nosy Borah, I haven't seen any good Tamataves in a while but I understand the names given to that look. So, until we just agree that locales are nothing more than a name...then they could all be crosses.

Have to disagree somewhat with that statement. We know nosy be's arent crosses also nosy mitsios, nosy falys, and the other island locales. Based on the type for that locale and the barrier being water its pretty safe to say that those are pure.

I'd even be willing to buy into the ampiskiana locale if there were someone willing to say they'd photographed some in the field and would give an actual location. Im pretty sure all the photos Ive seen were of captive animals.

Has anyone out there gone on one of the eco trips and actually photographed some in person?

Anything is possible if you believe in the magic that Harry Potter posses!!! your just gotta believe alexbrock jut believe!!!;)

All the pics were of captive breeders or animals for sale on those sites. Im looking for actual footage from the field. Ive seen actual photos of falys on the island. Same with mitsios and ambanjas, etc... That would help prove that their actually a seperate locale & give an actual location...
