Any recs or favorites? My package came with one of the basic Zoo Med thermometers (sticky strip kind) I have a digital Exo Terra (with probe) but it got terrible reviews online :( Was looking at hygrometers... but am thinking I may need to get a better thermometer too (after reading all the terrible reviews for the one I've got) Is it better to get a combo with both or separate? Analog or digital? Which ones are more accurate? Thanks in advance :)

i have a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer (with indoor hygro built in) i got from walmart but i also use a caliber III for a more accurate hygrometer (also has a built in thermometer. hah) - you have to put the whole unit (which is tiny) in the cage in order for it to work, just put it in a spot that doesnt get wet and itll be fine.

i havent been able to find a reasonably priced thermo/hygro locally with probes yet but i suppose i havent looked very hard since the caliber III works good and i already have a thermometer..

I feel digital are much more accurate, and adjust faster than analog. I use a combo of digital and analog in my enclosure.

What is the brand name you got from walmart? What is the variance on avg? Thanks!

its something like "acu-rite" they have a bunch of different versions. the one i got was like 11 dollars. idk what the variance is.

i also have an infrared temp gun... i dont trust any of my thermometers though so i tend to average them.

Home Depot is the best place to get them.Get digital ones, combo or not, as long as you have both.

Holy cow, yes! I used to get several of the pet specific ones but if I got 3 of them or more, none read the same temperature, even when sitting on the same table for a while. I went to Home Depot and they had some all in ones for $4 each, and they work sooooo well. I got three and they all say the exact things when in the room, and I feel like I get a much more accurate reading in the cages now. I could never trust the humidity readings on anything else.
