Well, trying to keep everyone updated about my Alaskan experiences! Had a good opportunity to photograph a moose the other night, and I know some of you love em! (cough cough...Laurie <3)

Also have had a lot of time to explore Alaskan waters while fishing. No Salmon yet! Just Arctic Grayling.

Is that a baby moose or horse in the background of the fifth picture? I like the fog rising from the 'heated' springs. Repost the pic of the bigfoot, PLEASE!!!! :D

Marvelous moose photos! Love the horses too!

We used to see moose around Gooseneck Lake near Parry Sound off and on.
(We also saw black bear, rattle snakes, porcupines, wolves, beaver, and many other critters.)

Also went to a lecture about ticks on moose and how they could cause some of them to die. They were trying to find a solution so the moose wouldn't die.

Keep the photos coming!

That is in fact a baby laying on the edge! I'm still waiting for the mother and baby to come back so I can keep taking photos of them!

Bigfoot??

Anyways, here's more photos of a bull I saw this morning!!

Amanda, I got my Moose picture yesterday!! Thanks you! I do love moose, the are just majestic to me. i swear i may fly up to see you!

Our local wildlife is a ferrel cat or Canadian Goose. Must be nice. They look pretty comfortable around you. Simply a nice specimen. Again, I beg for Bigfoot photos. I tried to trick you in the earlier post. Make you post without thinking about it, if you had any. Curious as to what people would prefer to find: yehti or bigfoot? :D

Today and this evening I had a red squirrel, black and Grey squirrels, mommy and baby bunnies, chipmunks, a skunk, a possum, mommy raccoon and her three babies, cardinals, bluejays, robins, chickadees, and a few other birds....but no hooe of a moose. :(

I stand corrected. I forgot we have a TON of wild bunnies running thru the neighborhood, several kinds of skinks, possums, squirrels, and lg variety of birds. One sparrow nests in our tree about three feet from the door every year. We can eat popcorn and watch babies from inside the house.

Don't ever think Moose are safe to be near. Amanda knows to not get too close. Moose kill more people in Alaska than bears ever think about. They have road signs telling everyone that it is moose who kill the most people. There are signs posted everywhere to stay a respectful distance from a moose.

Right. I am a lot more concerned about a crabby momma moose than either black or brown bears (both of which we have here). Bears will respect you if you demand respect correctly. Moose just don't care about you. You are either something to ignore or something to attack...not much in between. At least the moose don't get into your trash, rip the siding off your house, or eat your poultry. The worst they do is eat your garden or knock your satellite dish out of alignment while rubbing the velvet off their antlers.

That was my passive aggressive way of concern. Kinda like me being fearless of aggressive dogs. The animal and human have to know how to respond to each other, on a case by case basis. Look for the signs. I was a little concerned for her safety. "Moose ain't no joke!"

Not looking forward to velvet season...not only do they look like murderers with the blood and flesh hanging off their antlers, but not the satellite dish!!! Moose are definitely bipolar. There was a tourist following the same bull, got just a tad too close and the bull charged him...luckily the guy jumped onto a piece of machinery.

Rule#2: ALWAYS keep something stationary between you and the moose...I know this rule by heart ;)

Hippos, people, hippos! They are the greatest murders of the animal world.

That is so true!! I'd rather be mauled by a moose anyday compared to a hippo! Their teeth are 10x scarier...But pigs scare me too...If they trample you, and knock you unconscious...they're going to eat you...true story.
