Any thoughts

You need to remove the water bowl and just mist. The water will just hold bacteria and can pose a risk if your cham falls in it.
 
I agree. I would only keep the water dish in their if it serves a purpose of catching water or something. They usually don't drink standing water, however if you got him from a pet store then I understand how you were confused. They usually only have standing water in their cages.
 
Another question would be, why do you have a water bowl in the enclosure? Most chameleons do not drink from standing sources of water so you have to provide misting sessions and/or a dripper system.
I have also heard/read that they will defecate in standing water dishes, which isn't ideal.


Its a small bowl that catches the water from the little dripper I empty and clean everyday
