Anybody want some Dubia?

I give up! Phineas hasn't had a dubia for two months. He's fine eating everything else. I don't want to keep my colony as pets!

Anyone in the Philadelphia / Burlington County, NJ area that wants a colony - container and all? There are hundreds - from babies through adults and everything in between. They are very healthy.

I would so take you up on your offer but I'm in FL. Its pretty difficult to find a store that will ship to FL. Damn state laws.

I'll take it and give you a store voucher for SmallPetFeeders.com if you'll ship them to me in Atlanta, GA.

Thanks for the offers everybody. I really didn't want to ship them at all. But it looks like I'll be shipping them to Dave - the whole kit and kaboodle - so to speak.

It's just such a darn shame that so many of us live so far apart!

We sould all chip in buy a town and call it "Cham city" and any cham owners can live there and have all the best cham related stores in this town:p so on and so fourth....

Heaven:rolleyes::p

HA! I would move in a minute to Cham City! But can you imagine the media headlines? We could raise funds for the city by having a reality show:

The Chameleon Strikes Back
Bringing Up Chameleon
All Quiet In Cham City
Gone With The Chameleon
Chameleon Now
One Flew Over The Chameleon's Limb
Casachameleon
How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Chameleons
Pirates Of The Chameleons

Okay, sorry, I'll stop now. Just got carried away by the thought of it.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY!!! Argh!!! It is so frustrating! I have even basically starved Claude - offered him nothing else for DAYS - and he wont take them. I tried hand feeding them to him - now, he does not trust me so he wont take any food offered by hand! I put them in his milk jug feeder - wont touch them. I tried letting 1 roam the cage - found it a WEEK later and decided that if the damn thing survived a week in the cham cage without getting eaten it deserved a reprieve!! I know one of the forum members said if the cham wont eat dubia then the keeper is doing something wrong but SERIOUSLY!!! What do you do?? Let the cham starve to death trying to get it to eat soemthing it obviously wants nothing to do with!!! Argh!!!

haha sorry little venting...anyone near Minnesota?! lol

It is frustrating raising Dubia when no one will eat them! I never stopped offering Phineas any food though. He'll eat silkworms, hornworms, flies, butterworms, moths, superworms, and some things he gets outside (mantids, spiders, flies etc.). I figure eventually he will eat Dubia again. I just don't need to raise them. And if Claude eats a variety, I wouldn't worry!

I have the pickiest damn cham! He has only ever eaten maybe 6 dubia total, and every time it is a nightmare - he violently shakes his head once he grabs it, one he chewed and spit out...Today he was hunting and totally avoided the dubia once he got close to it and realized it wasn't a cricket. I dunno...he wont eat silks, once in awhile I can get him to take a hornworm. I suppose superworms and butterworms are next - but superworms scare me with the whole biting thing... All he eats consistantly is his crickets. :(

Hey if you can do crickets, good for you! I HATE crickets and won't have many of them in the house. I got a couple, gut loaded them, and offered them to Phineas. He wasn't really interested, much to my delight. At that time he was still scarfing down dubia. I am thinking I would like to try green banana roaches next. I like the way they look - except for the climbing . . . and flying. As for the superworms, I have never been bitten. I just scoop one up and put it in my palm. I never grab them or hold onto them!
