Anyone have or remember the article saying...veiled females must mate at first cycle or die?

I'd say that has been proved wrong by now.
Fun fact: There is a condition in Guinea Pigs where older females shouldn't be bred unless they have had previous litters in their youth or their pelvic canal will not be wide enough. If you don't breed by 7 months of age then don't breed.

It was proven wrong LONG LONG ago...I was just looking for some information that was in it.

It took so long to get that information to be considered a myth not a fact.

I've been keeping chameleons around 13-14 years, and can remember this as some of the first info I learned. I don't have the article, unfortunately, but it was part of the commonly passed around information. I do remember though that it was being disproved back then. It's interesting to see some of the widely held beliefs be debunked over time as our knowledge and experience base expands.

I'm now dying to read this article. Someone must find it.
I was working in fairly active exotics and mixed practices that saw reptiles, mostly iguanas, turtles, tortoises and the occasional Jackson's chameleon in the late 80's and 90's and I never heard anything like this. They just weren't around yet.

I think he ended up with a lot of eggbinding issues in the study ...likely from over feeding them to get them to grow quickly if I remember rightly. I'm not giving up finding it...yet. If the old ADCHAM forum was still working it might be in there somewhere.

Some of it comes up on the Wayback Machine.
ADDHAM was one of the original chameleon forums years ago...
Some of us are now on this forum/site...
http://www.adcham.com

Let's see how many will admit it and say they used to post on ADCHAM! :) Anyone?

Well... that was... strange. o_O I couldn't find a forum on that site—just references to a (now defunct?) Listserv.

And what's up with all the malapropos embedded phrases that take you off to some completely unrelated camping equipment site?

You said..."Well... that was... strange. o_O I couldn't find a forum on that site—just references to a (now defunct?) Listserv."...the forum was on Yahoo.

That happens often when I try to go to the old ADCHAM!
