I agree this is a case of severe osteomyelitis and yes amputation is the best therapy if survival is the main objective. The longer we leave the infected bone the increased likely hood for sepsis, etc.
Chameleons do fine with amputation which will allow a faster resolution and less long term stress.
Continue aggressive antibiotics for 3-4 weeks post op.
This is a common problem in chameleons and is not usually related to calcium issues.
