AquaZamp RainDome vs Mist King Starter Kit

I was getting ready to purchase the starter kit from MistKing. Then I noticed that the raindome has misting capabilities just like the MistKing, but it also creates large drips of water since it mists on top of the screen.

It would seem an added benefit to have the large drops with misting since they mimmick the drippers many of our chameleons love to drink from.

Any thoughts?

I started out using mist with my chams then I tryed out the rain dome and now use it for all of them they seem to give a better response its like a real rain storm in there cage I imagine its all personal preference tho.

I agree though mine seem to respond more to the rain appearance over the misting. Problem for me is room on top to get a nice rain effect, this DIY double t8 fixture, 8.5 basking light take up almost 1/2 the top to be honest. So the only place I could put a rain dome would be off to the side. /shrug So I keep misting and hope the water dropping off the leafs suffice for them.

I met the Aquazamp folks at the San Diego rep show. Boy did I mess up by not knowing about them sooner. Their starter system is very nice and they only use one pump and it's made in the U.S. with a two year warranty. mist king has two different types of pumps made in china and only a one year warranty, I really think the biggest thing for me was the shipping... I even ordered it from the guy in Houston TX. and the thing still had to be shipped from canada to the tune of $26. Aquazamp is in CA and he ships USPS priority for like $12. I could have got another mister nozzle added to my order for that price. BUT the BIGGEST thing is I got my mist king two to three days before the reptile show... and did not know anything about them until the show. I did do several "mister system" searches on the forums and mist king and DIY was all I came up with.

Also the misting dome works great, I can remove it from the top and take their enclosures outside.

And after talking with the Aquazamp folks... they really are nice people.

No this is not a paid advertisement, I just wish I would have seen their product sooner.

Remember, though, we are comparing apples to apples, and my mist king is what the doctor ordered and works very well with my aquazamp raindome.

Also... I'm very suspicious of canadians, I think that they are trying to take over the world, with their good beer and good natured attitudes.

Have both and hands down I love the two and three nozzle rain domes and the customer service is first rate with Kevin at Aqua Zamp.

I have the aquazamp rain dome and I love it! It looks like a little rain forest in ur cage lol

I am with you on this one. How does everyone with the raindome make room for it on the top of the cage with the lights and also my dripper?

Update

I just purchased the MistKing starter kit. I will have my misting nozzles pointed at the foilage I have at the top producing both mist and big drops of rain water coming off of my plants; therefore mimicking the Aquazamp raindome without the hassle of making room somewhere on top of my already crowded cage top for the raindome unit.

In actuality, we enthusiasts are lucky to have 2 quality hydration companies to produce such fine misting products. I could not lose either way.

Will the Aquazamp Raindome prodvide the same humidity increase as a mister would?

I would say so. It's putting out the same amount of water. It's just concentrating the saturation area. The size of the dome represents the size of coverage. Place it over a nice plant and voila! :)

I actually really like that effect about the raindome. I hated the overspray issue i was having with just the misting nozzle. It would spray through the cage and wet my floor and walls. With the dome it pretty much falls straight down onto your plants then the drainage.

I also find them less afraid of the drops from the raindome like they are when directly misted with a nozzle.

I like the idea of the rain dome but just have no room up top to get a large enuff area rained down on. The double light fixture from diycages is nice but eats up alot of space. I will have to do something about that!

I agree the rain drops seem to appeal to my chams more than the mist. they seem to have learned the timing of the mister and just shortly before it goes off you can see them scurry to a high corner.

In my diy messing I took a plastic bowl and turned it upside down over the misting nozzle and turned the nozzle upwards. It created the rain effect and did not provoke the mist panic. But only wet down the items under that radius. However the mister seems to give greater radius of wetting down the branches etc.. which they lick for water.

I personally only use two and three nozzle rain domes because of the "spread" they give. If I am only going to have one nozzle on a larger cage I put it as a mister.
The real difference between the two systems is Aqua Zamp is made in the US, uses a better quality pump and timer {imo}, and gives you a reservoir for the water with the kit.

If you want a rain dome buy as many as you want from Kevin and install them on whatever kit you desire.

you don't get the reservoir on the entry level aqua zamp just like you don't on the entry level mistking.

yeah its just much easier to go and spend $5 or less and get your own 5 gallon bucket. Shipping of the reservoir would cost more.

If I have my mistking nozzle misting directly on top of plants that I have at the top of my cage, wouldn't this produce a rain effect also with large drops from the leaves? In reality these are good problems to have. Its like trying to choose between a Mercedes Benz or Jaguar.
