Are Chams Instinctively Potty Trained?

I found this to be true as well. Once you start shelling out money for food especially to keep a variety as is best, you will find that breeding your own bugs can become a bit of an obsession. Get some dubias! Easier to keep and they live 5 years. Then try raising some silkworms. You will soon get the "bug" to grow your own. If you need to talk your wife into keeping roaches, I have already been there and may be able to help stating your case:D

Haaa! Definitely something to consider and, yes, I'm pretty sure I'd need to do some convincing to talk my wife into letting me knowingly and purposefully bringing any roaches into the house!

If I was able to confirm that what I thought I was seeing was in fact true, that Rico will likely try to go in the same area, I was planning on doing the same thing that you mention you do, Miss Lily, and put paper towels down in that area of the cage so clean-up should generally be easy!

Haaa! You have one that cocks his leg up too?!?!? That's hysterical - I don't know why and I'm not making fun of the little dude but I just think it's funny! :D :D :D

Tiff bless Tommy, that is so funny! Never seen a cham cock his/her leg before. :p And you can tell Amy from me that is so un lady like an she should be ashamed of herself. :D:rolleyes::p

Mine "goes" in the same spot, right hand side to her cage on the same branch. :D My gecko and bearded dragon go anywhere they like. Typical boys.:p

Lol! Now thats what I call potty trained. Ferret, has he ever gone in your hand? I have friends ask me that when I ask if they wanna hold my guys.

He's certainly gotten very close! When I first realized this trend he was sitting on my head one day and...yeah...that was about the fastest I removed him from a perch ever! (Luckily nothing had dropped yet) Now I know and am a little more cautious because I expect it. Poop and THEN get to play :)

Peppers will go in the same spot for the most part. Usually right under his heat lamp, but so it hits the ground underneath. He does however have a limb that he will go off of from time to time right by his dripper path.

I think it has to do with how while basking his metabolism speeds up and helps him to go. I have heard a lot of keepers say that they almost always go outside which would help to confirm this. Being out in that hot sun probably helps out a ton.

Very interesting... I just moved my old cham to a new cage and i haven't seen him poop for a week. This thread makes me think that he's still readjusting to his new habitat and just doesn't know where to go yet... I'm planning on trying the warm water trick tomorrow to see if that helps him go.

My melleri lift a leg when they go... they lean their vent off the branch and lift the leg on the side they are leaning away from.... it's kind funny.
