Are Veileds getting Smaller?

Hey guys!

Well, Ive been looking at alot of photos of adult veiled chameleon that were taken recently, and they were around the age of...mmm...I would have to say anywhere from 8 months to 2 years of age.

The Wild caught male veiled chameleons seem GIGANTIC, but it almost appears as new generations of veileds are being born, they are slowly decreasing in size. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that notices this, but is it because of husbandry, or bad care to the chameleons? (Improper lighting, feeding, and maintaing) as it only appears in some chameleons.

Thanks so much!

This is an excellent question. I would think husbandry would definitely play a role. There is a good chance a lot of captive veileds are not getting the vitamins, minerals, nutrition, and lighting they would get in the wild. Genetics could play a role as well, but I am not sure. There has been a lot of veiled inbreeding.

I never really notice that before, I just hope my Veileds will grow to be a nice healthy size.
