Are we going to be effected by the incandescent bulb ban?

I’m a little worried, with this ban that is being proposed to ban the sale of incandescent bulbs of 100w (obviously it will start to cover all wattages). The cheapest bulbs that I and probably most of us can afford and use (even if price isn’t a factor) are the incandescent type bulbs, will the pet triad have to comply with this ban? What will we do if we can’t use them types of bulbs to heat our vivs, or provide basking spots!?

I hope they will still allow those expensive bulbs which are sold in pet stores. I dunno how it is in your country but in here it should start by 2012 so I have a lot of time to buy tons of bulbs in normal shops.

I haven't been informed enough but I never use regulat 100W lamps. And to be honest I'm not sure they stop producting the spots. The goal is a saving a lot of energy for home use. I'm sure for our hobby there will be alternatives.

And on the other hand I think it is really not smart to use 100W lamps. For chameleons halogen is also very good and then 10 - 20 W is enough. And for desert species (which I also keep) I also don't use don't kind of lamps then I simply use UV lamps, and those will never be forbidden.

There are so many studies which show that nearly all of the energy bulbs don't save as much energy as promised, they don't have a natural spectrum, they are not as bright as compared light bulbs and especially the cheaper ones have too much hg it it. If those ones break you can get massive problems
