Babies!!! But not what you think...:)

I emailed our vet and she confirmed they're squirrels. Trust me, my wife would not raise any kind of rats. she wasn't a fan of chameleons until we had our recent eggs hatch. Then she saw how cite they are as babies.

I have no idea what type o squirrel it is but they're pretty cute. I found a forum just like ours and there's a lot of old info on rescuing them and releasing them.

I'm going to have to split time with that and my Cham forum for a little. :(

Ok I understand you will divide your time but we will need updates and pictures, lots of pictures. And divide or share means we will see you here also correct?

LOL! laurie, i wouldn't leave here. "splitting time" means, just peeking at the other forum to make sure we're taking care of these babies right. i'll still be here everyday! :D:D

When i was a kid a saw a baby squirrel fall from a tree and took it home and raised it. Squirrels are VERY cool and fun to have as a pet, very intelligent animals, similar to having a dog. We always took him outside to play and he never once showed any urge to leave our sides and run off he played just like a dog would!! But once sexual maturity takes over they are no longer "pet" material and is definitely time to release them. Although ours came to the door every day to get some walnuts and to come hang out in the house for a bit, that slowly disappeared as he became the wild animal he was born to be.

that's awesome! i can't wait till they're old enough to walk on their own and explore. they're so cute! i'm hoping the same. once i release them into the jungle of my backyard, they'll make a permanent home there and alway come by for some treats and stuf. :)

What are you feeding them?

How often?

I ask because I worked at a wildlife rehab center and i had the awesome job of feeding the 40 someodd baby squirrels every 2 hours.

(ive even got scars on my arms and wrists from their nails).

And those do look like squirrels, they are still very young, so have not had time to grow hair yet, but the facial structure seems like that of a squirrel.

Feeding them some formula that we got online. There's actually an online store that has squirrel rehab supplies!!! Got special formula for food and a bunch of syringes, nipples and artificial teats! feeding them every other hour right now. They're adorable!!! :):):)

Thx cami! I can't wait till they open their eyes and start getting their tail fur. I've seen pics of little older squirrels and they're sooooo cute!!!

if they were squirrels they would have their tail fur by now...... the tail gets fur at the same rate as the body for a few weeks and then it starts to bush out like a bottle brush right before they are on their own

Ok we understand you don't feel these are squirrels. They look exactly like the squirrel baby I raised in Michigan...pics dont always show everything in perfect detail, lets let them grow up and we will see. :)

really sad news. 3 of the babies died overnight. don't know what happened to them. we took to the last one to the vet for them to try and rehab it. they were so healthy looking and then all of a sudden they died. my family was very sad to see them die. :(:(:(
