I just got a baby piebald veiled chameleon 24hrs ago not sure how old. His body is the length of my pointer finger not including his tail. He's not gasping for air or making noise when breathing no signs of a uri. But he's been sleeping since coming home yesterday should I freak out or is this most likely from stress of a new environment and just give him time before I freak out?

Hi there welcome to the forum. Baby looks pretty bad. Were the eyes that sunk in when you brought it home? Or was it shipped to you?

Can you tell me how your getting your actual basking temp? Is it a temp probe at the branch? It is a bit high for a baby that young. Shoot for 80 at the highest.

He has like dark colored skin around his eyes his eyes where like that when I got him from a pet store before I got him I was in and out of the store looking at him and he was active climbing at the top of thw screen of his enclosure he was defensive when the clerk took him out. the temp probe is at the very top by the light the branch he is on is 70

So you want to drop that probe down to the branch you need to know exactly what both of those bulbs are doing.

How are you misting him?

Is he in the cage by himself?

No lights on at all at night, correct?

The eyes being closed and so sunk in is a very bad sign. Baby is in total shut down.

Any pics of when you brought baby home? Just so I can compare the eyes.

Mist half hr b4 lights on and half hr after lights off. He is by himself lights off at 8pm and on at 8am this is when I first put him inside his enclosure he was pretty freaked out

Ok so eyes look better there. Any more pics by chance?

Do you have a dripper going in the day? Are you following chameleon academy info or neptune the chameleon?

Dripper all day and crickets in his enclosure I am following her. These r the only pics I have actually. I do have a shower curtin around 3 sides to keep the temp right and have the same 3 sides cover with black poster board so he can see out and feel more secure

Due to this members situation and current decline of this baby I have reached out and will provide them with one on one assistance. If anyone else would like to assist in the thread please feel free to do so. But I just don't want yall thinking they are not getting help since my communication will end in this thread. ❤️

I think I'd try turning off the basking light until tomorrow and leave your other lights on until normal time and give his enclosure/foliage a misting now to see if he will drink.
