Hmmmm.

I know I originally said back when I was asking for a pair of these that not only would they go to a good home but that I'll be breeding them. I wasn't trying to be pompous either.

What I didn't expect was to have some babies within months of getting a pair.

The female arrived a bit gravid, not ideal for a new female cham but I'll work with what I get every time. Last night she dropped 5 babies. Unfortunately three never emerged from their sacs and were DOA. Two however are now in the herp room and plotting to take over.

The mother is doing well. Eating voraciously and staying hydrated. I had decided a few weeks ago to separate the pair as I noticed they just didn't seem to like being around each other. I observed weight loss in the female and agitation colors from both. I can only wonder if that weight loss contributed to losing three of the babies. Bummer.

I'll pair them up again sometime in Aug/Sept and actually do a thought out breeding.

Now , suggestions for feeding teensy tiny chams? I'm guessing there are more modern food items than the old ways I used to do it which involved me outside for hours collecting food items.....

pinhead crickes and fruitflies?

Congratulations Chamkeeper! Old school is the best way IMO. Not too many choices but the FF & pins. I've used an occasional small waxworm for a treat after they grow a little bit & nymph superworms also.

Baby Jacksons love fruit flies and pinhead crix. Silkworms only a few days old may also be a good choice if you can get them - it would probably be best to hatch them from eggs. Monty (my baby Xanth) loved them but they are all bigger than him now so he'll have to wait till I can hatch some more and start again!

Any chances you will be selling any of these babies or in the future if you breed them again? I thought about getting a pair of these but they are pretty hard to come by.

In the future with a full litter I do plan on finding them homes as I do not want a whole colony of them living here. The two I currently I have will be staying here. I plan on keeping one and using the other to trade for a new bloodline if I can find one. I'm getting ahead of myself since I do need to raise these two first.

To date both are drinking and eating and not showing any signs of problems.

Sorry for no pics as of yet, I honestly don't have a camera that can take a good picture of something so small, I did try however.

hatching some silkworms... didn't think of that. Thanks

Congrats on them doing well!

Ill forgive you for no pics, but when you have a herd of them, keep me in mind?

EDIT: Baaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh your in canada:p

I completely understand you don't see too many cb ones. Well glad to hear your gonna keep them going, I would definitely pick one when you decide to sell. Congrats on the babies!!

Actually I live in Ontario California. Common misunderstanding however so no worries.

I shall post pictures of them next week. To date they are still doing quite well, neither has passed away. The mother is easily going to survive this and has already put back on most of her weight. I'll wait until around May and introduce them again.

That's great news.

Mt merus

Glad to hear of some cb's - I've been looking for merus for 2 years (always a little behind). Keep us posted on your success... we can fight over them when you have extras (sounds like late spring next year). I'm in San Diego - I can drive up to pick them up :)

As promised, here is a pic of each neonate. One I can see three little nubs forming so I'd guess it's male. The other still only has one on the nose. Female I'd assume.

To date they are eating fruitflies ,crickets, and silkworms.

They seem to be doing well. We just came up on their 1 month mark.

Awwww! They are so cute! Reminds me of Monty when I first got him! Baby Jacksons are even more cute with their little horn nubs! :D

Thanks for putting some pictures up. Congrats on making the one month mark. Can you post some pictures one the adults? That would be great. I'd like to have a reference as to how big they get so I can get an idea how old mine are.
