The time is near, I'm about to order the cage for my upcoming purchase of a baby panther. I found a repti breeze terrarium for 52 bucks that's 16x16x30 or I found a terrarium that is 18x30x30 it's only 80 both with free shipping. Which should I get?
the 18x18x30 will only hold it for about 6 months and then you will need to upgrade to a 24x24x48. I would suggest just getting the larger one so you do not waste any money since it will be necessary anyways.
Unless you're, planning on keeping him in there more than a few months, then it doesn't matter. The smaller one might be better for starting out new babies in the future, but neither will be a permanent cage.
If your getting him young start smaller then go bigger it will be easier on both of you...lights n other equipment you can transfer over just may need stronger watt bulb...thats what i have learned recently getting a panther as well
Assuming your buying a male - he'll need a big boy cage around 6 months - maybe sooner so it kind of depends how old of a baby you're getting. If he's 4.5 months+, just go with the big boy cage (24x24x36/48). If hes 3 months I'd go with the 16x16x30. Both cages you suggested will suffice so I don't see the reason to spend the extra $ on a larger cage. Always best to keep the little ones close to the food anyway.
I have 2 ousties. One wc mom lily.. T. rex her son I've had since birth. I raised him in a 20 gal for about 3 monthes, then put him in an 18x18x36. He is 8 monthes now weighing in at 140 grams 16 inches and in a 18x36x40 custom cage I built. I would go small if your going to build your own. Then put him/ her in it. At about 5/6 monthes
