:( please help my baby veiled started closing his eyes and not eating about 4 days ago i don't know what happened and i've been spraying constantly but i am very worried since they sold it to me so young probably about a week old but looks so small he is about 1 month now.
Since then he looks very skinny and has a hard time eating and climbing because he is unable to see. He is also getting weaker and has a hard time lifting his own weight. He was eating and drinking normal but i had to change the bulb because i had a coil one and now i know is not good for them so i changed it yesterday.
Last time i saw his poop it was white with transparent gel at the end .
He opens one eye sometimes but looks like he has a hard time doing it . I am so sad please help

*baby veiled chameleon about 1 month old .

*screen cage with a reptisun 5.0 and i just turn on basking [60w]for short periods in the morning and at night ,i don't leave it on all day because it gets very humid and hot were i live.

* live plants 2 small ficus and lots of branches.

*I spray about 3 times a day but i leave for about 8 hours to work .

*I take him outside 2 times per week for about 30 minutes

* he used to eat tiny crickets and fruit flies

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - Baby veiled chameleon , about 1 1/2 old, he is been with me for 1 month
  • Handling - i don't handle often , only to clean the cage 1 or 2 times per week
  • Feeding I stopped dusting because they won't sell without d3 were i live ,i feed him fruit flies and he will eat about 1 very tiny cricket every other time but hasn't eaten anything since 4 days ago

  • WATERING: I put the dripper 2 times a day for about 15 min and spray him 2 times a day for 2 to 4 min and he usually drinks from the trapped drops in the cage and sometimes from the leaves
  • Fecal Description - He used to poop black but he is popping white now solid with a gel at the end, there are no cham vets here so he hasn't been tested for parasites
  • History - for a short period he was housed with another veiled cham about 2 months old but he started freaking out so i moved the bigger one to a new cage . He was very active with nice colors not like the pictures but he has been always that small

Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Screen cage ,
  • Lighting - Compact Reptisun 5.0 uvb zoo med , basking is exo terra 50 w is usually on 12 hrs a day
  • Temperature -Cage is about 70 and i am not sure about the temp at night but were i live is very hot and humid
  • Humidity - 80 almost all day
  • Plants - 2 small ficus
  • Placement -It is in my living room with a fan and i turn on ac sometimes at night for no more than 30 min he is on top of a glass coffe table
  • Location - Cancun , Mexico

Current Problem - my baby veiled stopped eating and closing eyes.
He is getting worst everyday and looks so small i am very worried any help is really appreciated

Thank you in advance

Yes he is wet but he is also getting very skinny , i would've took him to the vet already but there are no exotic vets in my area. Any clue what could help? Thanks

Can he see the other chameleon?
Is the fan blowing directly on the cage?
Is the AC vent near his cage?
Did he stop eating first or closing his eyes first or both at once?

He is alone in his cage and it is not in front of the other one. The ac is a few meters away from him , but the fan is on top of the cages.
He stopped eating first and then started closing one eye and the other one the next day.

Sorry for your loss. No one should be selling chameleons at such a young age. They are more sensitive to everything. They get stressed very easily and since yours was soo young, it is possible that he was just a weak hatchling that would not make it in the wild. I also found out that baby chams are more sensitive to uvb, and sometimes it can even burn their eyes. Than they can't really see and die of starvation. Some UVB bulbs are just too strong for them. It is sad.
Vitamins and minerals are must have if you want to keep a chameleon. You should Order them online since there are not any in your area. Chameleon without vitamins or minerals will not last long.

Thank you , he was very very small and i did dust at the beginning but then i saw that the suplement i was using had d3 so i stopped it right away. I have 1 veiled cham that is happy and growing fast and i also have 2 jacksons that are awesome but for some reason the little guy couldn't make it . Thank you for the advice and i hope your pets are healthy and happy
