Hi guys im new to the forums nd i joined because i Have bought a new baby chameleon :)

I have fed him crikets/meal worms so far he is very shy i need help :p yes i have done my research but nothing better than talking to actual people :)

Chameleons will be shy for the first couple of weeks until they get used to you. Try to work up trust and a relationship with him. Try to not pick him up or bother him too much for awhile.. only when you're feeding. Feeding by hand is a great way to build that trust..

Pantience patience patience!

Yea he is very shy its ok though and iv tried hand feeding him but hes still shy soo i have fed him with the cap i put crikets and meal worms with the calcium and get it close to him and he gets them but i havent been able to hand feed him

But yess patience! Hes deff an explorer haha,

And nothing in particular but any tips and tricks or information would be really useful :)

Just pay close attention him. Chams surprisingly have a wide range of personalities. Learn to recognize and understand the signs of stress and happiness, lots of stuff on here and youtube. The more you accustom him to yourself and the people around you, the happier he will be. After the initial period of him getting over being in a new place, start socializing him, let him out of his enclosure lots

Awesome! :) yea he likes to eat n lay on a leaf close to d basking light and im not to sure on his colors yet or what they mean but i will keep a closer eye on him.

I was also wondering what other food could i feed him that i can make at home like fruit, fruit flies etc

generally, darker color means stress/unhappy/something needs changing, and bright colors mean happy...generally. it varies from cham to cham and sometimes even the happiest cham will be a darker color, thats where your 6th chameleon sense comes in. When they sleep they usually change shades of color aswell so don't let that freak you out

feeding also varies from cham to cham, the general consensus is bugs are best, that being said ive fed mine very small pieces of carrot, watermelon, apple etc and he seems to really enjoy it. i try to do it every once and awhile, otherwise he eats whatever he feels like.

Most importantly, do what works for your Cham, not what someone else tells you.

True :) but it helps to know what it works for others peoples chameleons but i will deff do what works for him.

As of now im going to let him get used to his new place ic read that leaving the door of his cage xan help with him getting used to you

yeah thats a good start, but if hes displaying any signs of stress then i would leave the door closed as it will make him feel more secure, you will know pretty quickly, and just make sure you watch him closely with the door open, only takes a split second for them to disappear :p

I have the doors open and he seems to not be impacted by them open :) and yea thats soo true he found a way to get behind his wall n he disappeared once haha
