baby willis (one month old) says hi!

i know its not good to have a large quantity of water in the viv because they drown very easyily, i think perhaps im over exaggerating a waterfall, i mean slowly trickling water dripping down some rocks, no water collection visible to the chameleon so there is no chance of drowning.

why are foggers a waste of time, and whats bad about using an ice cube to drip on the leaves? cold water messes with metabolism or something?

and to all the concern about my room mate withe the bearded, hes owned and bred many exotic and extremely rare reptiles along with working in our local reptile center through his teen years, so he knows a damn sight more than me!

The water from ice cubes melting is too cold for them.

The foggers are an expensive (elements need to be replaced constantly) and ineffective way to raise the relative humidity.

Live plants and misting are all that's needed.
Additionally a chameleon enclosure needs to completely dry out between mistings.

If the water in your "feature" is recycling through (same water in a reservoir being pumped out over the rocks) it is too dirty for your chameleon.

just got him, this is my first reptile. i managed to get a really tiny 1 month old yemen, he is truly awesome, very playful.

thought i'd post a few pics, any tips and suggestions for food or what best to feed crickets, nice plants and things they like to play with would be much appreciated.

Cheers and i look forward to watching him grow!!

Oh my gosh he's so tiny!!! None of mine have ever been that small :| Congrats and he looks really god :)

Wouldn't the chameleon have nothing to do with this type of water anyway? (S)He'd only be drinking dripper and mister water, no? I would never challenge your guru-like chameleon expertise, just wondering if you could clarify on that.

I would reccomend getting a dripper soon. Use a dixie cup with a needle pinhole in the side for the time being. Also i have never seen the size of a young 1 month chameleon but maybe blaptica dubia roaches same size as crickets might work. They are so much better than crickets cuz they dont stink climb hiss bite and they breed fast. easy to care for. It may seem like some people are being mean or hard on you but chameleons take a lot of care time and money and we like to help you and your cham. i think scheffleras are the best plant in my cage. I would consider making your cage drain water. What type of cage do you have. If you have the black or silver screen one with plastic bottom try drilling holes in bottom and have a container under the cage to collect water.

at the moment i have an all glass viv, this will be changed in the next coming months, i have covered most spots to avoid the cham seeing his own reflection.

I'm looking to get one of the silver or black all mesh cage, anyone know any retailers in the UK to get these types of viv's from?
i'm not so keen on the all glass idea, or the flexivariums..

cheers
