I’m a little late on this one as work has already started. So I’m building a new home for one of the buddies and decided to build a back ground and bio tank and thought I’d share it with you guys

so I’ve put everything in place plant pots bark a few branches and started the foaming process I hope by the end of the day to have everything in place and foamed well it’s the end of the day I spent more time than I though but hey got a lot more done than I thought I would.

back foamed and sides siliconed branches and pots in place.

Tomorrow I plan on cutting all excess foam away

I’ll add some images I go alone

What species are you keeping in there?

If thats for your Vieled, its too short.

Velieds, and Panthers need a 36t viv at least that 24 is not enough.

The size is fine
I’ve seen many in a lot smaller.
90x45x90

90x45x90 is perfect. However the Viv you have in the picture is 90x45x60, by the looks of it. Which is not tall enough.

Pictures can be deceiving though. If it's 90 tall, that's fine. If it's 60 tall, it's not fine at all. That is not tall enough. The width is fine, and good size, but 24 tall is not acceptable to a Velied. Thats why I said, 36t (90t) is needed, if thats 90, than ya its fine :), just didn't look it in the photos, could be the angle though.

So I’m ready for the adhesive and coco fibre now so tomorrow it should all look totally different. I’ve put drainage pipes in all the pots that will hopefully drip once the plants are watered.

Looking good! Do you have a drainage plan yet?

I do and I don’t lol

My plan is to get some hose pipe and cut it down fitting it flat to the bottom of the tank with a V cut in coming up to a back corner this simply if I over water or get too much sat in the bottom of the tank. Then add pebbles and a membrane and coco on top. If you have any ideas I’m more than willing to listen.

Cool, what plants are you using?

Plants I’m not 100% on yet I bought a dragon plant well it was on sale in the local b&q at weekend so I’m thinking of sticking that in. I’m looking for a few fast growers and some slower bushier ones for higher up if you have and ideas also I’m willing to listen thanks.

Pothos and wandering Jews seem to be the most popular, they are fast growing and hard to kill.

I think it looks shorter because the base is cut out in most of the photos he posted. In the last photo it looks like the height and width of the enclosure is the same. Looks like 90 x 45 x 90 to me.

Back on topic - looks like a really amazing background and foaming job. I can't wait to see the final product (y)

Pretty much finished few more plants to be added but there was none at the pet shop today so had to use what’s I have.

Looks very nice! Yes, you do need some more bigger plants to give him some more cover.

You can just go to home depot and get some plants that are on the safe list, or any nursery really. Rinse the leaves with warm water, and rinse all old dirt off the roots. If you are leaving it in the pot, then repot with topsoil.
