Backyard branches (help)

Hi guys, im new to the forum. Heck im new to he hobby. I'm preparing my enclosure by collecting branches in the back yard. I need help identifying these tress just to make sure they do not harm my Panther Chameleon. I know the curing process, so im good with that. I live in Arlington Tx if tht helps...

I too cannot ID the plants, but they appear to be vine like. I would go for more woody branches with bark. This will help your chameleon grip. I would also stick to the safe plants list. If you do collect branches from the yard they will need to be baked in your oven before being put in the enclosure. You can google baking branches to see the procedure.

The first is a "Kousa dogwood" and the second is an "edible fig".
Taking pics of the underside of the leaf will help others ID in the future as well.

Its really hard to tell without seeing the whole tree, and bark. However, if I had to guess, the serrated edges on the leaves of the first look like an apple of some sort, and the second like hydrangea. Do either of them flower or do you have other pics?

I think youre wrong on both. The first may be a pear instead of apple, but again, its hard to tell without seeing the whole tree. But its defintitely not a dogwood. And the second definitely isnt a fig.

If you are just using woody branches, with no foliage, you can use just about anything you want. IMO. I personally like ivy vine, without any leaves of course.

I would avoid aromatic woods like cedar and pine though, they can affect the nervous system. This should go without saying but I'll say it anyway.....No branches from plants that are obviously not suitable for animal enclosures like poison oak. That message brought to you by Captain Obvious.

M Fisher's advice has always been solid. I too like the bark branches for my outdoor cages. Panthers like to chew on them though. So, avoid the fragrant ones.
