Is bamboo okay to put in a chameleon's cage? i also have some other plants i need to show you guys that i will upload in like half an hour? One more question: if my vielded chameleon has puffy eye and i took one of the long vines out of her cage, sprayed it with my hose and put it in my ambilobe's cage, would it be okay? Thanks in advance.

if your veiled has puffy eyes seek a vet who knows chameleons asap. and no you shouldnt just "take it outside and spray it with a hose", soak it in very hot water, depending on how big it is, if you are transferring ANY materials into another cage to a different animal, soak them in a bath of extreamly hot water for a good hour or so. as far as bamboo. im not sure, i dont think it would hurt, bamboo isnt something they could eat, just take any leaves off if there are any. it would just be used for a climbing. also too, ANY other plants you have, do research on first. go to flchams.com and click on the safe plant lists, it lists everything. your chameleon could of very well rubbed his eye of something he could be allergic to. prepare dont just throw things into cages. hope this helps

Wait what does lucky 'bamboo' mean. I put the vine in yesterday at about 12:00. i hosed it down for about 5 minutes then let it dry in the sun for about 3 minutes and put it in his cage. Should i take it out now, and just keep it in hot/warm water for about 15 minutes or so.

Lucky bamboo is the small stuff you see in some stores and having a certain amount in an arangement is lucky (different meanings for each number) these are really called draceana (sp?). Real bamboo is the stuff you see that grows outside really well in large segments and is ok for chameleons but if you are going to use it I would just suggest cutting it and using it as perches across your cage.

make it a half hour just to be safe, rinse the tub out first (make sure there are no soaps and what not) then just wipe it off and then you can put it in your cage.

i had a big peice of bamboo across my cages i had to wrap a fine around it so my cham had sum thing to grip onto whilst sat on it because it was to smooth to grip onto

In my opinion you should never put any vines from another lizard into your cham cage because even if you dont see a problem with the lizard that used to live on the vines there still could be something that could make your chame sick on the vines. I would just goto the store and buy some new vines. Whats $12 when you are sure wont hurt your cham?
