Basking sessions

Personally have yet to have the pleasure of automated 12 on 12 off power outlets so every morning I get to flick the lights on for my girl. It's too cute watching these little creatures make their way to the favorite branch and then lay out and soak up some heat so, I would love to see a photo/s of your cham/s during their morning basking sessions.

(Proper uvb is being added this coming monday, thank you to the community for help with that as well)

Here is Beman. The first one he was only about 5-6 months and thought he was a tough guy. The second one he was 8-9 months old. But his favorite prior to growing into his I am a big boy attitude was always basking outside on me. Lately it is much harder to get pics as he has embraced his attitude the last 3 months. :(

@Beman I had my nose in some behavior forums earlier today out of curiosity and saw keepers using their chams favorite feeder/treat and hand feeding them to them so they expect nice treats from you instead of what he might think is going to happen. Wondering what happens when you attempt to do this? Defensive color display?

LOL actually I am big on trust building. Here is a blog I did on it. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/
While I found it extremely helpful when he was a baby and still to this day I am able to handle him. I found that even with all the daily work I did with him once he hit 13 months he had a shift in temperament. Within the last 3 months he does recognize me and come to me still but will puff and gape for no reason except to show me he is boss. I pay very close attention to him when I do try to handle him because I do worry about crossing a line and getting bitten. He is more cage aggressive as well now. He still recognizes me but in my opinion his natural instincts of being a cham are in full effect lol.

Was he like how he is now In the beginning?
No, I did a lot of trust building with him when he was a baby. But they get to maturity and they know that they are chams and they make sure you understand that fact as well. See the post I just did above to SmallToes.

Becca, I believe Beman's grumpy nature is do to all of his trips to the vet and the meds that were pumped into his system.

I have thought about that as well. I had to strip down his cage bare the last 3 months as well. He only had two small pothos in there and he was very stressed. I just added in a ton of plants on one side and that has helped him settle a bit. But he still has a totally different personality. I think not handling him for a month impacted him as well. Its ok though I still adore him even if he is a grumpy boy.

@Beman I do find that behavior a bit adorable, do you have any photos of it? :ROFLMAO:
Now to look into that blog!
lol of him being a grump... No, by the time I grab my phone he realizes its me and calms back down. I can tell with him when he doesn't register that it is me and then when he does. His eyes are different more gentle perhaps. It is hard to describe. I work from home and his enclosure has always been in my office. So we have quite a bond with each other. The end of next month it will be a year that I have had the pleasure of being his mom/keeper.

This is rare, Jungle Jim actually let me take a picture of him. Granted I was halfway across the room, but this is still rare lmbo. He’s still pretty pissed I took his old lady away from him.
