Baytril help

So my Cham has had a LRI and my vet prescribed him baytril which I have been giving him for the last couple of weeks. It didn't have much effect in the first week so I was told to up the dosage slightly.

The clicking and and gasping has now stopped but there still seems to be excess mucus in his mouth. Why is this?

He is also need eating that well due to the baytril, what can I feed him or do to improve his appetite?

In fact to correct myself, I just hear clicking. They baytril doesn't seem to be having much effect...

Hi! My girls just gotten over an RI, this is what i did

To help get rid of the mucus- get the shower going in your bathroom. When it's nice and steamy in there place your guy in the room with the door closed. Put him on a tree or vine and be sure to close the toilet seat and cover the mirrors. Leave him in there for an hour. You can do this maybe every other day. I hear a lot of people use a WARM air humidifier in the enclosure for this purpose too.

Up the temps during the day and Night. Chams don't produce a fever like we do to help fend off infections. Just make it a bit warmer to help the little guy 'sweat it out'

The other really important thing to do is find out what caused him to get it in the first place and do all you can to correct it. Possible reasons are its been too hot or too cold, too dry or too humid, not enough ventilation, stagnant water in the tank or dirty environment. However, it could be something like a weakened immune system and in that case you need to look at your feeders and sup schedule and see if he's lacking anything vital.

Also, make sure he's well hydrated! Baytril can make him less hungry but can also dehydrate. It's important to make sure he has plenty to drink to so he can process the baytril properly.

Thanks for the info. Really annoyingly my mister had broken and the timer was all screwed up so without me knowing the mister was going off way to often. This caused damp conditions for a few days and bam, LRI all fixed now but slow recovery. Will defo do shower thing. Any ideas for appetite?

My girl started eating like a champ on day 2 of the baytril. However, I got it neat (it's usually diluted for oral consumption) and injected it into a locust so she didn't even know she was getting it. Does he have a favourite? Or could you try giving him something new and interesting? Sometimes it's just about getting over the threshold, once they eat one thing it kinda spurs them on to eat more. Maybe a little treat is in order
