Ben's Home

OKay, I dont want to start a new thread as I over post already.:) I have a new cham coming tomorrow. We put up a 71" reptarium that used to house an iguana long long ago.. Well, this thing is a foot taller than me.. Im trying to figure out what plant(s) would be tall enough or how to do that to make them tall enough so that he can still use them to bask. I will have vines of course to allow him closer access.. All the plants i have come across are only 3-3.5 feet tall..It does have a middle support around the middle of the cage. I am not sure if it would be strong enough without supergluing to hold those planter that are meant to go on ledges? so I can put some pothos in there as well. I thought about plant stand but that would be about 3-4 feet of wasted space at the bottom..is that okay?

Well I still havent gotten anything.. Im baffled. Im gonna hafta get a growing light to keep all the plants i have in mind alive int he cage. He comes in like.. less than 7 hours!Im gonna put him on the big palm to bask while we get things situated and then let him get used to it for a few days. He should have plenty of room. I think its like 200gallon or something.. But ANY help at all.. anyone use a reptarium this size. i saw the free range thread but cant tell what he is using to stand them up...I just dont want to only use half the cage if that can be avoided..even just plants ont eh floors for extra humidity would be great..

Plant stands are your best friend here! He doesn't care if there is bare space at the bottom, and that will make it easier for you to clean up poop! What are you putting under the Reptarium to catch water?

CRUD, see this is why I love you guys..Didnt even think of that! My other one came with the fitted plastic piece.. Goly Gee shucks.:) Uhm, garbage bag?

LOL.:) No., I was up. I babysat last night until 3am and by time I got home, got my second wind..so I checked the forum while I drank my sleepy tea..Thanks for pointing that out.:p Im not THAT addicted..Not yet anyways.:D

So I put 2 black garbage bags ont he backside to protect the wall and help with humidy as well as one on the base.. now...I have a big empty mesh cage..still. LOL.:) He arrivedin Clarksville at 8:05 am! Im still waiting for him to make it to the door. Had to leave a note ont eh door to tell the stupid Fedex guy to RING the doorbell.. We have lost so many critters by them leaving it on the steps..and its 6 degrees right now. BRRRRRRRRRRR

Hey Juli,

Do I need to keep an egg laying bin in my Brody's cage all the time? I am still kinda confused on how the whole egg laying thing works and I guess I am paranoid that I might not notice when she needs it. Sorry to hijack the thread.TIA!

Hey RachelRiot

If you have a female veiled cham, they start to change to a different colour called "gravid colouring" They get darker and yellow and blue. Google Gravid Colouring in Veiled Chameleons or look at Brad's Thread raising kitty the veiled chameleon here is the link.
