Best way to Attach Branches??

I have collected a bunch of good branches from the woods near my house, they have all been soaked in bleach and baked in the oven to ensure they are safe. I just am unsure how to attach them to screen cages. I know people say use zipties or push pins, but these are branches from trees. They aren't cut perfectly flat on the ends. I can attach ones i have cut horizontally, but if i want to put some longer branches diagonally in the cage, do i have to cut the ends on angles to put pushpins in? If anyone has pics or anything of how exactly your branches are attached, please post them because i really don'y know how to attach branches without flat ends. Anything helps. Thanks.

There are a lot of different ways people like to attach branches. My absolute favorite, is the Action Jackson method. :) It's great because you can move things without worrying about ripping the screen. I will attach a link to the post that shows how to set it up. You basically use plastic chain, cable clips and small self tapping screws. Works great, and if you grow a pothos it can cover the chains and you barely notice them.

I use the pushpins on one of my cages. I get it to work even with jagged ends of the natural branches.
My other cage is a Dragonstrand so it has the ledges and I use zip ties for that one.

Although mine are bamboo I think it will still work. I drilled small holes at the end of my branches and push pinned them in and then used fishing line through the holes and screen and I also left my push pins in. Some might say too much stress on the screen but I don't see much at all. Also if you have a second pair of hands you could just have them hold it there while you secured it with fishing line(25 pound test).

Keep an eye on how your cham does on the bamboo. I have never tried it but I have heard it is too slick for them to get a good grip. I would suggest a good solid horizontal brand under the basking branch for him. That way he has a "spot" to hang out on. With them angles the way you have them, it seems like his basking spot is pretty low and far from the light. Pictures are deceiving though too. I love the plants you have in there, that pathos will grow out and be awesome in there for your cham.

I made a bamboo scaffold. Measured, pre-drilled, the connected together with plastic covered wire and fishing line. Everything gets attached to the scaffold. Bamboo is not too slick when it is wet since it's surface is not smooth at the size we use.

yeah i haven't had any problem with the bamboo she climbs all over it just fine. but the vine going on the ledge is straight for her so she chills on that when she basks and its about 8 inches down as its a 85 watt mercury vapor bulb.

I drill holes on the ends (I use random branches from outside as well) and use thin jewelry wire to attach it, I twist it and knot it on the ends, it fits through the screen without making bigger holes, and I can just untwist and knot when doing a deep clean.

Dragon Ledges from Dragon Strand are the way to go!! Cost a little bit of money but saves your screen and gives you a good clean look. I used tree branches as well and with the ledges it makes it easy to hang plants too. You don't have to buy the entire set up, you can buy the ledges to add to the cage you already have.
