Just wonders if anyone know if you can put a bird of paradise plant in with chameleons? cant seem to find out if they are toxic or danagerous in any way.

Thanks for the amazingly quick reply. If its not on the list is it toxic. Ive tried a lot to find out gone though latin names and everything online, even made a trip to my libary where i buried myself in horitculture books but nothing came up.

It should be fine. Ive seen little lizards lick the sap of a few different species of bird of paradise her in florida. (anoles and curly tails)

I know they are wicked dangerous for cats. I am not finding anything about chams. These are real pretty plants!

Dont worry my mum's just rung me saying that the seeds are posioness while its germinating and the leaves contain hydrochloric acid. Glad i didnt buy it there and then.
:D

I, personally, wouldn't use it if it wasn't on that list. More so if you have a veiled chameleon. Just in case. :)

EDIT: Oh good thing then!

I havent found it there toxic to cham either, ive got pygmy's so any type of toxic is going to be bad for them because of their size. I would have thought if they were poisoness to cats they would be for cham's as well but im not 100%.

Ive never heard of cats having issues with this plant, its a common landscape plant in S.FLA and cats are all over the place, at some point i would have heard about a cat getting sick from it. What is your source for this info?

A jasmin is toxic to cats but its ok for chams

Yer i've read the fl chams list tried it for the common names and latin but neither were on it. I've now resorted to looking for lists of plants that are poisoness.
I think somewhere on here we should create a database of every plant we have come across, would take time but would really reassure people when they come across new plants. Like people are saying some plants are poisoness but dont affect chams.

Just for referance i dont have one in with my chams i saw one at my local garden centre but the staff there couldn't tell me if it was poisoness to chams.
