Bit worried now

I'd say not warm enough to be honest. It's starting to get cold over here in the UK now and if he is turning dark under the basking bulb then the likelihood is that the ambient temps may need lifting as well. I'd Deffo try the 75w halogen from swell and placed on an angle. You've covered the sides with corotherm like me so hopefully you should get better ambient temps with the bigger bulb

I have the arcadia 75w halogen mate. If he isn't hot enough would that also be why he is pissy? the bulb is facing straight down at the moment but how do you get it to bring the temps up without making the mesh too hot? And how does having it at an angle help? Just curious ;-)

Not sure about the size of the arcadia bulb, mine will kick out 85-92f on an angle from the side of the front of the viv pointing back into a corner. The angle spreads the heat a bit better than pointing it directly downwards. Pointing ddown directs it to the floor and doesn't let the heat linger and therefore doesn't increase the ambient as well.

Ok I'll get a clamp tomorrow. Do you have all 3 sides covered? So how far from the mesh is yours can you show me a pic of the top please bud

I have all 3 sides covered matey. My cages are off for the evening evening now but I'll get a pic in the morning for you if that's ok?

Yeah that's fine mate it's just easier to see something than trying to understand over text. What thickness is your polycarbonate? Mine is 5mm but I could get 10mm

Lol did you get the ones from B&Q? They are the same size as the reptibreeze! I do only have the 2 sides covered as I'm waiting for another piece to come into stock so that is going to help a lot too

A lot of water?

Ok so its been 3 weeks now and there has been no change in his appearance. he just seems to be so stressed. he is eating and pooing but have noticed that his urated was a little yellow over the last few days.

he ate 5-6 (large crix size) roaches yesterday afternoon from me plus a couple of mario worms in the morning. again he came out a few times in the week and as soon as he does he changes back to his normal self, thats the only time i see him happy.

now when i first put him in there 3 weeks ago i can understand that he would be stressed but after a week of not being able keep the humidity up enough i put plexiglass on 2 of the sides which helped massively so i wonder if its that?

im running out of ideas of what to do to help him. it makes me sad knowing he isnt happy.

I have changed his misting times to

10 mins at 8am, one hour after lights on.
2 mins
5 mins
2 mins
5 mins

each spray is 3 hours apart

Does anyone else think that the misting times are too long? I have a mistking as well with two nozzles (two enclosures) and if I run it for more than a minute at a time I would have water everywhere

The reason I did that was because his wee was starting to go yellow. I was reading a lot of people's times and a lot were giving long spats in the morning because you Cham hasn't drank all night. It might be wrong but the last thing I want is for the little guy to get dehydrated on to of hating his new home

Plus in the uk the humidity is a lot lower. What would you suggest on the times then? Would less time but more sprays be better?

So I got the clamp today for the basking light and have moved the themometer about 6" from the top of the viv and the ambient temp around this area is 80-82 my other one is broken so do t know what it it's further down. The basking vine also ranges from 82-90 depending on where I hold the lazer gun. I have yet to get the lower uvb so ill see if there is any change with the ambient being higher.

Sorry forgot to post the pics.

Is that all? I am clearly doing too much then. My boys urate was getting a little yellow so I uped it a lot to try to get him to drink. I have notices the last few days with the 10 min spray he goes up to the nozzle and just sits there for the duration. Should I change it to something like yours?

Yes I got mine from b&q covered the 3 sides then siliconed all the joints and around the base. I then drilled out some small holes in the centre of the base where my ficus sits, the weight of the plant bows the bottom slightly so draws all the water to the centre then drains out into a bucket underneath the cage : )
