Bitten by a tiger (salamander)

Well, okay, I guess it's not quite the same as bitten by a real tiger... Sally went for me instead of the waxworm this morning. She doesn't really have teeth, but she really clamps on, and will start inching her way up your finger given the chance. It's a bit of a struggle to get her off without doing any damage. Then she sits and sulks and won't touch her treat because she knows she could've had the big one.

If I could plan ahead and have somebody else standing by with the camera, I could have a photo of a salamander dangling in midair from my fingers. However, that's probably not that good for Sally. Here she is without being latched on to me, and contemplating whether she can eat Thaxter:

I work at a pet store in san diego. We were digging up the foundation, under in the soil we found one of those larger than that!!

Craziest thing I've ever found, he sold for $50:).

LOL! Oh my jeez, that is the biggest salamander I have ever seen!

EDIT: Couldn't have been bigger than this!

My grandpa always told me stories about finding large salamanders under his house from digging.. Too cool.

I have kept tigersalamanders 2 years ago and they are probably the best eaters I've ever seen:eek: They eat everything which just moves a bit

I was about to say, what about teh giant salamander?

Those goofy eyes and smile has got me wanting one. Darn you! *shakes fist*

They do have pretty cool eyes, in a cartoony sort of way. And loaded with personality (ours begs, standing on her hind legs with her front legs on the glass when she sees you). And she squeaks when she grabs her food. Come on, you know you want one, all the cool kids have them...:p

I actually looked for one yesterday and today. Looks like they don't have them around here.. Too bad you can't hold them, darn you amphibians!

I used to let my fire bellied toads and newts out of the tanks for a bit under my supervision. I was actually looking for a tiger salamander/or a chameleon when I got my baby cham.

I've found it to have a lot more personality than any of our newts or the fire salamander we had years ago, and a lot lower maintenance than a chameleon. They're pretty worthwhile amphibians if you come across one.

Awww so cute

Its the eyes for me too, I tried to raise some axolotls from eggs during the summer for the same reason... but we had a major heat wave and they didnt survive :(
