My 7mnth old veiled cooper has recently aquired a lil black dot on his back left knee.he's also been sleeping low to the ground the last couple nights, nor eating his crickets.although he will eat worms,super/butter/silk. the reason for my concern is usually i reach into his tank and he'll crawl right on,last few days tho he's started hissin with a clicking sound.and looking very pissedd and puffy and lookin as if he wants to bite me,lol

Can't tell you about the black dot without any pics.

His attitude could be hormones kicking in. He's at his "teen" age and he may be starting to assert his territoriality.

Chams routinely go through feeder phases...they decide they are tired of one or the other and prefer something different.

Fill this out please, it will help us know your whole situation, to help you out a lil more. Also pics would help as well.

Thanks,

Tank? Glass? NOT GOOD get screen no reflections better air flow!!

Keep an eye on the black spot watch after he sheds see if it is still there.

Our Veiled had one on his lip when he was about 8 months when he shed it was gone.

Eating Good luck they do get picky and sometimes like vegetables our veiled likes Collard greens and the Panther likes Kale from time to time just watch they don’t get a big piece and choke on it.

Hold 'yer horses cowboy, they live in Canada. Often because of how cold it gets, glass is the better choice!

As for the dot, fill out the form bigcappa provided. But it's probably just a cricket bite. Are you letting crickets stay in the cage overnight?

With the information given I can't tell if the black dot might have anything to do with the chameleon being hissy and his sleeping low in the tank and there's not enough information to know if the sleeping low and not eating crickets means anything either. It could be as simple as he is growing up....or it could be something that needs attention.

Is the cage near a window?

tank is glass for now

as i do live in canada it is pretty fing cold here.I got him in Oct and he was bout 3mnths old.being so cold i thought a glass tank suitable till spring which is now.crickets do stay overnight sometimes,he doesnt eat fruit or veg.he's sleeping in the corner down low,his tail lazily coiled and resting on the rock below said branch.

Cooper

his back legs r shedding now hopefully the dot goes away,i didnt even know crickets could bite.He has a big light that has the necessities he needs,60$ bulb lol.he gets handled alot up until recently.gettin grouchy,i do think its the reflection and thats why he gfoes low in the corner of his tank there,s no reflections down there.I was mainly concerned cuz not only does he hiss, but he actually turns to bite, lil bugger,But after he hisses there's a residual clicking sound, and after reading about respitory issues i'm a lil concerned, but at the same time i don't know all their sounds. You people that responded i appreciate that it does help.

You said..."he's sleeping in the corner down low,his tail lazily coiled and resting on the rock below said branch"...its not good that he is sleeping during the day or that he is low in the cage. We need to know more information to help you...please fill out the help form and be specific with things. For instance...what brand and type (spiral, compact, long linear tube) UVB light do you use...what specific supplements and how often for each...etc.

just too hot

hes up and about but i think with spring here and him growing, its just too darn hot.my girlfriend also pointed out that he may just like that spot for time being,he does do that too.i dont remember what his bulb is,it a bad boy tho, simulated daylight,uv all in one jobby,i think he's justhot in glass, when i mist i start at farthest point from him and he climbs right into line of fire,

Could it be a PowerSun?

lght

is extera powerglo uvb/uva doodah thinga majigger, was at petstore today pickin Cooper up some silkworms/butterworm and some superworms,i checked on the light.i may have jumped the gun worrying bout cooper,he's shed three times in a month or had one long molt,i think being down in the corner is just his spot for now, could be the warmest spot in tank after light goes off too.I was usin a moonlight lamp in coolest part of winter but didn't bother replacen it when it burnt out cuz its warmer at night now.I'm new to critter husbandry, but seeing as i have a ballpython on the way its a safe bet it a passion for me
