I had a blue and gold macaw for 6 yrs. He was wonderful, very tame loved to be petted and sit on the couch and watch tv with me. He would wear his harness but i never tried the flight suit. I could bring him out with us during summers to hang out by our pool. He loved taking his afternoon shower from the garden sprayer out by the pool.
I know a lot of parrot keepers have their birds out a lot and even let them live free in the house. How do you/they manage the poop situation without using a flightsuit/diaper? My Cody poops once every ten minutes or so. He isn't going to curtail that just because I'm letting him watch TV with me. I've always wondered how keepers manage this. In the parrot books you see countless pictures of parrots spending time on furniture or even kitchen counters. Continuing to wonder.....
That is a lovely conure, but after my sister conure bit the crap out of my ear, I stay away from birds. She said it was really friendly - but not to me.
I hear they can be nippy with people they don't know. Mine is very bonded with me. I kiss his head and the sides of his head every day. He gently tugs my hair and barely pulls my fingers with his beak. He's got the cats afraid of him though. Our youngest tried to sniff him and Cody put his beak around the cats nose and applied pressure until the cat got the hint! The rest run from Cody if he's out of the cage on my hand.
