Bradypodion thamnobates question

Bradypodion thamnobates are such stunning little guys. They are absolutely one of my top 4 favorites and I have been reading about them but most of the posts on the forum and online seem to be from some time ago. Are they still kept in the hobby or only by very private enthusiast? I haven't found a whole lot about Bradypodion pumilum or Trioceros cristatus but it's been amazing to see some of the older pictures I did find on the forum.

Yeah, there are a number of people working with B. thamnobates in the US, but not a lot. I have a couple localities currently.

They seem to be rare. I was lucky enough to get a pair from the first and only shipment (3 pairs total) to Korea last year though I can't speak for the US. They were imported from a breeder in Germany.



@chris - do you keep your thamnobates (and other Bradypodion) in pairs? Thus far my pair has been living together in the same enclosure (24 x 18 x 24 Exo Terra) but I recently purchased the book "Chameleons of Southern Africa"by Krystal Tolley and Marius Burger and in there they state that females are aggressive towards males when they are not breeding. This seems to suggest that it would be unwise to house males permanently with females.

They are such a beautiful little guy. I'm glad they are still around here and there. I'm not the best at internet searches but the results kind of drop off after 2014-ish. Chameleons International had some beautiful pictures of a few.

I do not keep mine in pairs. I keep mine individually in 18x18x24" Exo Terras. I would generally advise against keeping them in pairs.
