Bruise?

My cham gets very similar marking on his face every time I piss him off and unfortunately that's every day as he is not near as found of me as I am of him even when I open his cage to feed him he wants me to die lol

Your vet must be amazing or you must be very well off, genetic blood tests to detect lineage in veileds doesn't exist. Who's the vet and breeder?
I don't have much experience with blood tests for lineage, so i may be completely wrong. it did show genetic deformities
Breeder i wont specify. Dr. Lomis is the vet

I only have one cham but I have quit a collection of reptiles and any time I notice one of my guys not pooping I always mix a lil Pediasure with a drop or 2 of mineral oil and a nice warm soak for as long as they will allow up to 10 min or so for sum reason ppl disagree with this method but I'm 25 and have had reptiles my entire life never had a bad result always does the trick and from wat I have read that u have posted u seem to be very involved and hands on with your pore guy so screw all the crap ppl are giving you if you provide proper lights proper housing and a proper diet with vet visits i truly don't believe there is something anyone else can do for this guy you are not already doing just don't get discouraged he is still very young and I honestly see no reason you should get rid of your cham or give up

I'd really recommend against soaking your cham. I think a shower is the way to go about this

I agree there is no way I could soak my cham in water he would Rip my fingers off also I have never had to put any thought into if with him as he poops just fine on his ownbut I do truly soak every other reptile I own when in this situation I would also like to point out this is not a often thing but has happened

By the way, have you tried hand feeding? I think it might help him associate you with positive things.

Lol that's all I did until 3weeks ago then he just lost interest in Crickets and would not shoot them off my fingertips anymore and would barely eat them free range but still eats the crap out of any worm's so I switched to Dubai roaches but I'm not in to holding dubia roaches and he will only eat fruits and vegetables and worm's out of a cup but I still take him out he calms down when i get him out of his cage

I agree I use mineral oil with geckos , a drop on lip and soak , can't soak a chamealon but a shower is great . If you have a plant for your baby put that in shower bounce water off wall , works great . I also have only one chamealon Frances . She has had a few vet visits and some issues . Keep up the good work @phantomchameleon .

I'm in the vet now with him. Wish me luck
Best of luck , keep us posted . My Frances she's been to vet 3 times in 4 months . She's doing fantastic now . We got her from a pet store . I know it's not recommended but she was so tiny, in an enclosure not at all adequate we New it would be replaced with another but at least France's was gonna have a good life . We researched 2 years and still got her from a pet store , also learned so much right here . We felt even if she only lived a year or 2 it would be the best care over that time . The worrie's never ends just don't give up .

Okay so we were very lucky and we caught a VERY early case of MBD.
Which explains why he isn't eating. And he also lost 10 grams in 5 days!!! He was 70 and dropped down to 60
But he's still as energetic as ever. He's definitely a fighter

Was he prescribed calcium drops?

Good job for getting you're baby to vet . What's the plan for calcium ? Liquid ? You might want to move his things a bit lower . I know u said he's pretty strong but just in case he was to fall also if u can add a towel to bottom of enclosure just in case he was to fall help with cushion .

I have been summoned o.o

So I have read/skimmed the thread in a very strange order so please forgive me for any mistakes and confusion. Please right me if I am wrong. How long and how often are you misting? Is it hand misting? I have noticed with mbd cases, even the mild cases, it can retard their drinking reactions and they can slowly dehydrate over time without you realizing it. I highly recommend into feeders after his tummy is better and you can make changes more freely, such as silkworms and black soldier fly larvae. Both are naturally high in calcium and so their calcium will be easier to absorb because it is more natural. The fact that you caught his mbd as quickly as you did is great because you have a chance to fix it before it becomes damaging. Babies bounce back great if you can heal them within time. I would definitely recommend at least a towel to absorb shock of falls in case they happen, however I would seriously look into a catch net for his recovery.

Now for mbd to show up at all, it usually takes about a month to show on healthy captive bred specimen, this is a month of continual neglect. And usually the signs are so minute only veterinary tests usually can catch it. A couple months in a healthy specimen can cause some severe physical side effects. The fact that you veiled baby is inbred does not give him the extra healthiness a good breeder baby would have. So he is much likely to react quicker to vitamin deficiency. I would keep a up to date liquid calcium on hand. Not necessarily very much, but after he has recovered you can supplement him to make sure his calcium needs are being met, by just once a week giving him .05 of a cc and it should be enough to boost him along with regular supplementation. When he's full grown you can change that to .1 . Technically take my female Jackson chameleon, Hope had such severe mbd, that even though she was a wild caught she was the worst case I have ever seen. It took her a year in poor store care for her to become like that. It took three months of intensive care before she was even able to act similar to a normal chameleon, though she was mostly going through the motions, relearning to use her muscles. She had no personality showing during these months. It was until 5-6 months into her recovery that she showed individuality. She became the chameleon I love today. We are easily a year in or close, and she is doing amazing, showing more and more personality every month. Her bones have slightly straightened in a way that I thought would never happen. I thought she would always have severe dips in her forelimbs. Which she still does at the moment. The angle is much, much less and she looks so much better. My point is, usually if it takes a couple weeks or a month to get them where they are, depending on the aggressiveness of your treatment, it can go anywhere from at least as long it took to become a problem for it to be fixed, or it can take easily twice as long. With Hope I am not sure if I should expect to see more improvement or not, but honestly I have said this two times before and each time she proves me wrong. She is truly a force of nature. And if she never improves from this she is where I could easily accept her current life as a good life and be happy with just having her live it out with me. I don't expect her to live nearly as long as she could. Technically she is two and half at least by my estimations. So if she lives another year or two I will be extremely happy. However she has proved me wrong so many times I never try to guess what will happen with her anymore.

The point of this story, don't give up if you have the means. It is hard and can take a lot of patience, but it is so worth it because as they get better you realize you saved their life and for some reason though they hate you during medication time, I feel like I have a stronger bond of trust between my rescue cases who needed intensive care when the days of constant medicating are over ^^

So i hate Slurpy in the most loving way right now
I took a shower, i brought him in with me. In the bathroom that is. I put him on a plant and set it on the counter. I thought he would stay there, and maybe lick some moisture off the leaves when the steam steams up the bathroom.
Nope.
Instead he got off the plant, turned on the faucet, knocked over the soap dispenser, then toppled over with some clothes i had folded.

He's also shedding!
Now he's on my face.

I never expected him to be this energetic especially with MBD. A light case, but still.
