I would just like to say my very friendly Panther was put to sleep yesterday after nearly 5 years.. His tongue gave out last year.. No problem.. Hand fed from closer range. He lost his footing.. No problem, smaller branches and a smaller vivarium. Finding him at the bottom of the vivarium recently unable to grip onto the branches was very sad, hence the vets visit yesterday.. He'll have a burial later today.

I'm sure many a member know the feeling.

Yes, I know the feeling and it is not a good one. I am sure you made the right decision. I have had to put two down and I knew when their quality of life was gone, it was time. I am very sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to have to make that decision, but when the quality of life is gone it's the most compassionate thing to do.

Well done I say for providing him solid care and a good life over 5 years right up until the end. Don't let his loss weigh on you, enjoy the time you had with him, and a keeper like you needs to get back in the saddle if you haven't already. Go find a choice baby in need of a good home and make a new friend .

Yes, I know the feeling too. In mu case, my guy died because of bad husbandry on my part. Buster must've lived a great life of 5 years and that is success in my opinion. You have done a great job, unlike I did in my past. Since then, I now have a very healthy panther chameleon and I am way more satisfied than before. Keep getting your chameleons, and enjoy them as much as possible. Drago.

so sorry for your loss, last summer I lost a male veiled chameleon to a complete shut down of his organs after a long battle for his life when I got him. I only had him for 3 months but I cried so hard racing him to the emergency vet to try to save his life, but he lost his battle later that night. Loosing a chameleon is no small thing =(
