cage drain for under 30 dollars

I love this idea so much...I am buying new cages rather than building them because of it. Here is my design....the middle bits are optional, I hope it makes sense. I will get photos up when I have it done in a month or so. I am sure it will work great- it is for six cages, side by side, by the way.

have you considered get rid of some of the outside 4way joints...cut down to one or two...then you wouldn't need to plumb so many drainways.

HOpe that helps...

I was unable to edit my last post.

the other thing is also add some kind of grade to the drain to keep the flow of water to you out....in other words tilt it towards the outs.

Hope that helps

I don't know what you meant by the four way joints- I am actually leaving the added middle bits out- it was a good way to appease those wanting a center drain and to put some support in for heave plants, as not to bow the cage bottom.

I planned on tilting the whole unit ever so slightly forward but putting a bit of scrap wood under the back corners and middle so that water flows freely into the big trough on front and then into my bucket =)

sorry upload of pic didn't happen

Okay, I see what you mean. I am wanting to eventually set up a misting system so I think that it will be best to leave the drains. There will be six cages on top of this and that will be a lot of water...if it is all flowing down at once, I think it could potentially overflow on the front long piece...does that make sense? I would rather just have them all drain into the big one and then direct the flow to the bucket on the floor. I will probably need the big trough anyway, no matter how many drains, because the cages are going on a two foot wide shelf that is built into the wall- the trough will be mounted under the lip of the edge and will direct the water into one bucket. I wouldn't mind setting up large hoses to drain the water into buckets, but one bucket is best, right? I want it to be streamlined.
