Calcium/Multi vit schedule?

Just wanted to double check on supplements schedule as I have a new brand of multi vit for Simba.

He is fed around 8-10 feeders (depending on what they are and size) at a weekend and on a Wednesday (as if fed more often, he just leaves them) sometimes he'll only eat once a week.

Will it be ok to use Calcium only on every feed and then use Exo Terra multivitamin (which contains Calcium and D3) once every 2 weeks?

Thanks in advance

what type of chameleon is this?
what efforts have been made to get him to eat more frequently?

Yes, your plan will probably work. Depends on what feeders you are offering, how you gutload, type of chameleon, whether the animal is under UVB lights or outside, etc.

For my adult male veiled (who is now becoming old, 4.5-5 years old) I do a similar feeding and dusting schedule. If I feed him more often he stops eating for a while (like a month) or gains too much weight, so this that is how I do it. He doesnt get any natural sunlight except every now and then in the summer. Also, because he eats rather infrequently, I use a D3 supplement that has 20,000 - 40,000 IU of d3 per kg instead of one with less like minerall (which I prefer for my younger animals that eat more often.)

Edit: I would like to add, if this is a younger panther or veiled, I would try to get them to eat more often if possible. I only do this because mine is old and it works for him specifically. Feeding like this for other animals (even older ones) might be detrimental for them. I weigh him to make sure everything is going well and change it accordingly.

He's a 2 year old Nosey Be X Ambilobe panther cham.

I used to offer him feeders every other day, but it got to the stage where he'd leave them, then not eat for a while. Sometimes going a week or 2 without eating.
Then on advice from here, I took feeders out for a few days, then he'd start eating again when they were put back in.

He seems to be fine with eating around a dozen gutloaded (with greens, carrot, fruit) locusts once a week or about 8 twice a week. Then he gets silkworms, butterworms, roaches, morios, fruit beetle grubs for variety. Locusts easy to get in the uk so that's his staple. Hoping to increase the variety of feeders he gets now the holiday period is out the way tho.

He's inside (now in new custom built enclosure - Simba's new enclosure thread) and yes he has UV light. Arcadia 5.0 linear UV tube - brand new. He also gets outside on the odd occasion we are blessed with a nice hot sunny day in the UK LOL

Used he multi vit today on half a dozen locusts but he's not interested at the mo, I'm guessing because of the move to the new enclosure. I'll use the multi vit again in 2 weeks time, but every other feed I'll use the Calcium only supplement.

Thanks Sandra x All the best for 2013 BTW X

The calcium powder I use has d3 and I give it to my chameleon on crickets every day is this good or should get some calcium powder without and only give it the d3 twice a week

It depends on the brand and amount of D3 in the product.

These are the 2 brands I'm using:

How much d3 is in the komodo powder? If it has high levels, i would recommend getting a plain calcium without D3 and use that for most feedings.

I would only use that 2-3 times a month. Use a plain calcium without d3 at most feeding, and a multivitamin once or twice a month. The insects should only be a shade lighter than they were before dusting them. If they are coated heavily enough that you can blow powder off, it sounds like there is too much on them.

Okay thank you so much I will have to go out later and get the multi vitamin and normal calcium powder

No d3 in Komodo powder. It's just calcium. The d3 is in the multi vit as stated x

then the Komodo is the one you'll use the most of
