Is there any reason not to use it to dust bugs when D3 is not needed?

My Veiled is spending days out side this summer so I dont want over load him with D3, The Rep Cal stuff is too lumpy to effectivly dust crickets and such...

What are you referring to exactly?

ground oyster shell, sorry, I should have made that clear.

Its the only ingredient listed on the all organic (and edible) box.

The box is edible??? Where the heck did you find this?

You need to use calcium supplement that is made for reptiles, I wouldn't use another type because it's not made for them.

Oh, aside from my interests in the incredible edible box,
I cannot say with any kind of authority, but looking it up online it appears that Oyster shells have a lot of Calcium Carbonate in them. Calcium carbonate is the main component of the calcium supplements that I am familiar with- including many for humans. Calcium carbonate is chalk.

On these grounds, assuming that it is food grade, I would suspect it would be of benefit w.r.t. calcium supplementation but I would keep in mind there is probably a lot more in there than just the calcium carbonate. I would be worried about that.

Perhaps someone else has some personal experience?

There has been some concern about products based on oyster shell, do to contamination of the water and such. But then again so is the air and water we all depend on. So, if it is food grade, that's the best you can hope for, so go for it.

If your rep-cal is clumping, take it back. Mine doesnt!

The only calcium I can find without D3 that I dont have to order is Avian calcium from Zoo Med. It isnt made with oyster shell either. Ive been using that for a while now.
