Camiezone babies from Homer and Big Girl

Here is a picture of my guy I got in July!

His colors are coming in so well!

Also he loves to be handled. As soon as I open his cage to add food he runs over and climbs up my arm!

Us having only one cham in the house will stick with dubia, silkworm and grasshoppers. We have ordered 250 crickets and in a week they are all dead. They are in a big plastic bin, eggcrates, with fresh vegies/fruits, cricket crack and heat under the bin, and still they die on us easily. While our hoppers are thriving well, our adults have mated and waiting for them to release eggs. They are so expensive but hoping we can sustain it via breeding and hoping we will be successful with this.
That's exactly why I hate crickets and the reason I'm trying to breed my own grasshopper colony. I just received a order of medium silkworms. They are so tiny, I need a magnifying glass to see them. It will be three weeks before I can feed them off. I feel like I'm at the mercy of these sellers

That’s one of the reasons that I tried my hand at breeding my own feeders. Plus, it was a fun way to challenge myself.

Speaking of silkworms, I recently got an order of small (they are the only one available) a week or so ago and until now Picasso haven’t tasted a single worm from that batch. ☹️

On the other hand, I have some that cocooned from my last batch and molted into moths, mated and got some viable eggs and will see if I will be successful rearing the eggs and maybe the hatchlings.

@Sonny13 can you please explain that statement about sunken eyes? I am curious. Thanks!
No props! Sunken or pulled in eyes in general could mean 3 things:
1) dehydration
2) declining in health and shutting down (they can hide illnesses pretty well)

I know his setups and not doubting it’s one of the two from above, therefore…..

3) discomfort / stress. He’s also fired up, assuming this aren’t his resting colors, meaning he doesn’t like to hold. His body language assumes the contrary of what is thought. Unless……for instance the phone has triggered this or something else.

Now I learned something new, thank you for sharing!

He was up by the heat bulb (my other recent post) and he was agitated when I went to go grab him... he was jumpy and trying to "escape" my grasp for sure. Not normal. I think maybe the high heat up by the bulbay have contributed

He is fired up here for sure.

Also his eating habits have changed recently (maybe age?)

I'm hoping it's not any of 1 or 2 you mentioned. It has been dry here with the dry wind where I live.

Here he is in his resting/non-agitated state

I'm definitely challenged with this breeding situation. I'm trying to breed grasshoppers but silkworms and hornworms are next. I order large - I get small, I order medium I get extra small. 🤣.

This explains it already 👍🏻

If afterwards everything is back to normal, no worries.

But, back to his colors! I really love his pastel colors.
