Don't name them Andrew, lol. I'm so happy to hear that you moved him closer to some action and noise. I don't think they like isolation, who does really? There was one tiny guy in with my shipment and I’m really trying not to name it. I guess I’m used to cracking claws off lobsters and crabs so taking hind legs off a grasshopper is no big deal.
I guess I too will take aggravation over isolation. Wow…so deep lolDon't name them Andrew, lol. I'm so happy to hear that you moved him closer to some action and noise. I don't think they like isolation, who does really?

You don't have to de-leg. I do it by choice. Carmelo is a gulper while Bolt is a chewer. They both could eat the legs but the lega are mostly bone.Ok. It’s now become official that I will not ever be feeding hoppers. Besides the fact that they are either too cute when small or too monstrous when big, I wouldn’t be able to de-leg them.
Now you see what I mean. The baby are so cute it's hard to feed them off. Whatever you do, don't name him. You will never be able to feed him off! You don't have to de-leg. You can feed them with the legs and wings. Caution: Carmelo is a veiled. He almost choked off of some large wings. He does not chew, he gulps his food. I've seen him eat very large hornworns with no issues. Maybe he wasn't prepared for the wings. Bolt on the other hand chews his food really well. There was one tiny guy in with my shipment and I’m really trying not to name it. I just did a little more reading. I wouldn't feed the tibia (back leg) based on the potential to cause a blockage in humans.I’m wondering if I should just remove their back legs from the start.

I’m humming the Mission Impossible theme song as I look through these picsI decided to look at the saved images from Bolt's camera. On Sunday, he escaped while I cleaned his cage. The following is Bolt's Magnificent Journey as told by the camera.

After frantically searching, I found him on the curtain rod. Moral of the story - close the enclosure door if you leave the room!

I got my grasshoppers set up under a 8” heat dome and a 15 watt bulb. Very gentle 92 degrees at the screen and 80 on the bottom of the shaded side. Just ordered 50 more. Holy cow Bert has been scarfing them down!I have too many pets! Carmelo, Bolt, Grasshoppers 1, Grasshoppers 2, and Vinny (Dog). I need to get control of myself.
As if he needed to be any more colorful and vibrant!Peek a boo!

Yes, my Guys love them and I love them. Less care taking. I am trying to breed them because they love them sooo much. Since I started feeding grasshoppers, I don't like anything to do with crickets. Today the crickets were chirping in the dust bowl! Beeeeeee QUIET!!!. I'm feeding crickets this week to avoid grasshopper addiction/hunger strike.I got my grasshoppers set up under a 8” heat dome and a 15 watt bulb.
